I like pet dog very much and I always want to owm one. But my parents don't agree with me. They think that it will consume a lot of time and energy in takeing care of the pet.
We had argue about this question for a long time. In the end , they held their opinion all the time , and so did I.
I am falling in contradiction .
Can you help me?

Dogs are a huge responsibility. Not only do you need to feed them and give them water every day, you need to take them for walks and pick up after them in the yard! If they get ill, the vet bills are very expensive, you must spay or neuter your dogs as well. If you are working and have the money, that point is secondary. But the responsiblity of owning a pet is tremendous. If you are young and live at home with your parents, you need to go by their rules and when you get out on your own, if you still want a pet dog, they make a great companion! But, remember they need to be taken care of. Good luck to you!

I too have to agree with your parents. Owning a dog and caring for it properly takes a lot of time and it can also be expensive. Dogs have to be walked and taken out regardless if you're sick, the weather is bad or you just don't feel like it. You can't say you don't have time. Once you get a dog, it's for life. You have to imagine what you will do in the next 10-15 years and figure out if you are prepared to spend several hours every single day to training, caring and loving a dog. It can mean you won't be able to go out with your friends like you used to, because you have to go home and walk and play with the dog. Dogs really do take up a lot of time and if your friends aren't dog-friendly so you can't bring the dog with you when seeing them then it's going to impact a great deal on your social life.
Btw I don't mean you'd have to spend every awake moment with the dog, but in today's world where most people have to go to school or work at least 8 hours a day, if a dog is left alone for that long then it will need a lot of your time during evenings and also early mornings to be happy since dogs are social creatures and need you to interact with.

I have to say I agree with your parents. Owning a dog is a full time job that you don't get a break from if you want to take care of it right. They have to be taken out and walked often, brushed and personal hygiene taken care of, shots need to be up to date, they need the right food to be healthy and so many more things that would take forever for me to tell you about. Check out some of the sites on the internet about caring for a dog or puppy and you will see how much work it is. If you are not ready to commit the majority of your time in caring and playing with a dog you really shouldn't have one....just my personal opinion.
