Whats the deal with Greenday?

I was wondering if they had any plans to put out an album or if they are touring in the future? I saw them once at a dysfunctional family picnic on Long Island. Was awesome they trashed the stage causing 3rd eye blind to do a show a the Hammerstein that I also went to.

i've heard that they are working on a new record. i actually ran into billie joe about a month ago at a warehouse show in long beach. his side band, pinhead gunpowder was playing. i didn't bother him with any questions about a new album...just said a quick hello and that's it. but i'm pretty sure that pinhead gunpowder tour is over now, it was only supposed to be a few california shows. I wouldn't be surprised if green day is back in the studio now.

I know this is an old post but i'm a greenday fan and wanted to add my bit. The last i heard was that a new album is due out in october 2008 but that news was given last year and i've not heard anything else since. Does anyone else have any more information on whether this is a defineate album release or jus hearsay?
