Are anti-smoking activists stupid?

BERLIN (Reuters) - German anti-smoking activists are trying to bring charges against 89-year-old former West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and his wife for breaking a new smoking ban in Hamburg, the group said on Friday.

Those stupid anti-smoking activists never did stop for one second... in order to realise that the guy is 89 years old... been smoking all his life... still alive and laughing at them.

I think I responded to this elsewhere. BUT, I think they are going too far! I volounteer at a Veteran's Hospital. Many of these "vets" still smoke! I now have to wheel them out of the building into the freezing cold (wrapped in many blankets)...12 feet away from any doorway,or air intake! IS THIS WHAT THEY FOUGHT OUR FREEDOM WARS FOR?
Activists would not be able to do what they are doing if these "champions" hadn't given up their freedoms (serious battle injuries/confined to hospitals) for their right to express themselves. It is such a "me" world....it makes me want to cry when these persons are miserable/shivering cold, trying to enjoy a freedom they fought for.

You make a very good point there.
Smokers have no freedom.
And those vets deserve better than that.
