American Idol - Is Simon deaf?

I am watching the preliminaries again. Great entertainment! What really gets on my nerves is how many times Simon says "yes" to people who are singing off key. Then, he turns around and says "no" to someone who can really sing because "you're just like 1000 other singers in bars across the country".
Am I wrong here?

I think Simon is a hoot. Sometimes they all make bad calls. It's true though, how many people sound just like someone else. I get so tired of listening to the radio to hear songs that sound just like the song before them. I sometimes can't tell who is who on the radio.

I agree with you. I think Simon is a big jerk and he annoys me everytime I watch the show. I guess it's just the way he is. I would like to hear Simon sing. :-) Lol then all the contestants could make fun of him!
