most of discussions here in mylot are questions regarding how to spend your Valentine's Day with your partner... this discussion sounds frustrating for me, since i don't have a partner.. so i just started a discussion which is a bit different...
why i do not have a partner? well the reason is i am still in a process of recovery... my boyfriend died due to leukemia last November 28, 2007 and almost led me to depression... anyway i don't want to explain any further about him..this makes me quite depressing...
for those singles out there or with partners right now, how did you spend your Valentine's Day without a partner? or what are your plans for Valentine' s Day as being single?
happy posting...

I posted a discussion wishing everyone a happy valentine's day even though I am alone too. I understand how you feel, the love of my life is in Heaven. On valentine's day I stood home, watch a movie and got some take out - wasn't in the mood to cook. The loss is very very hard and even though it does get better with time you will never forget that special person. I wish you all the best.

On Holidays I buy a balloon filled with helium and write a message on it and let it fly up to the stars.

You may not like my thoughts, but don't you think Valentines are also all your loves ones & not only a boyfriend or girlfriend? You may share your happy time with your mother, sister, brother, child or any your nearest friend & try to forget all your depression.

thank you for sharing your point of view and i also appreciate your concern...
i agree with you..however...
first my mom already passed away...
second i don't have a sister...
third my brothers are not affectionate enough... my brother's date is his computer since he is already addicted to pirate king online, he is playing this online game almost 24/7 (we have two pc here in our house)...my other brother has a date with her girlfriend and we are not that close since he has his own world...and my another brother has his own family already and he will spend his valentine's day with my family...
fourth my nearest friend here is not a true friend of mine... in fact she ruined my trust and betrayed me...
fifth, my father is not here since he is a seaman and he will come home by march...
and lastly i am not really fond of spending time with a child...
i just usually have a conversation with our neigborhood if i have enough time...
right now i am very busy since i have a lot of projects... at least i have some ways of getting rid of my depression...
thank you again for your concern.. i really appreciate it...
advanced happy valentine's day and happy posting...

"and my another brother has his own family already and he will spend his valentine's day with HIS family..."

to all singles of this world! this is the best time to ask someone out! or is it? hehe i think if you want someone to have a clue if you are attracted to them is to ask them on a group date on valentines day, it sure does says a lot about how you feel to a specific person and at the same time, asking out on a group date would be the safest way in :)

Valentine's Day 2005, I had been seperated from a 16 year marriage, I was on my own, and didn't really care to date at that time, my oldest daughter lived in the same city that I had moved too, and her fiance was serving in Iraq. So she came over, we rented movies and I fixed us a Valentine's dinner. So to have a special Valentine's Day doesn't mean you have to be with a partner, I spent it with someone special, my daughter.

having someone significant (whether your son, or daughter, parents, husband, wife, friend, best friend, girlfriend or boyfriend) on Valentine's Day will make everyone feel special on that day... i believe that your Valentine Day of 2005 is one of the most significant day for you...
thanks for the response and happy mylotting...

Sorry to hear about your partner. You are a very strong girl! I really admire you =) I am sure you can recover.
As for me, I have no partner now. I broke up 2 and the half years ago. I am over that relationship long time ago. My focus now is my work and family. =D
Even though I am single, I already have a date for Valentine's Day. My date is my good friend. She is also single. She booked me on Valentine's Day last December. =D
Right now, Valentine's Day is more like a Friendship and Family Day for me. It's a day when we shower our loved ones with gifts and appreciation. =D
I hope you will have a good Valentine's Day.

seeing as though I am single now, I am used to the whole valentines day alone, I will pretty much kick back and watch a movie or do something that I put off for a while to past the time..its not like its a real holiday to me anyway..

Valentines Day is not a big event here in Australia so only a few people really celebrate it but one thing I learnt when I was working and there were just a few girls who would receive flowers is that most otimes they got them because they either asked , hinted, threatened even to get them, I once said to a girl your boyfriend must be very thoughtful you get flowers every year she said to me he knows life would be unbearable if he didn't...so Valentines Day is and has always been just another day, it never has meant anything to me so I will probably be on here with my Mylot friends...

although Valentine's day is considered a big celebration here, most of the people i know consider Valentine's Day as an ordinary day... they tend to give simple gifts for their loved ones such as cards and that's it...
thanks for sharing and advance happy valentine's day...

i really don't have a partner most of Valentine's Days... i think i just only have dates with my partner during Valentine's Day only once or twice in my lifetime...
during those times (being without a partner) i really do nothing.like you it is like an ordinary day for me, just staying home and watching tv. i don't even give cards to my loved ones since i am not a sentimental person...
but the coming Valentine's Day will be a different story... i wish i have a lot of projects to come (since i am an online writer) so that i will be very busy and just thought Valentine's Day will be just an ordinary day for me again...
thanks you so much and happy posting...

Hey, don't feel frustrated. Single or not, you are still your fabulous self. Don't let one tiny business-filled festival depress you. Well, I use that day to meet up with my single friends, have dinner or watch movies, sometimes we would go to karaoke even and we have fun each time. She would be depressed when she sees couple on the streets, and I would tell her, "who cares? The situation won't last forever, might just well enjoy the day instead of whining about it!"

Condolences about your boyfriend my dear... I know the pain of losing someone so dear to you.. I do hope you're fine now, don't forget that we mylotters are always here to help you!
I too am single but I'm determined not to let Valentines' get in the way of my fun. You can spend it with your friends and have a sleepover or go check out the latest flick in the cinemas! You can have loads of fun with your friends. =) Or you can spend it at home with yourself ( this is what I do. hehe) and just write on my blog or chat or watch TV. It doesn't seem fun but it's relaxing for me. Hehe. Well have fun friend!

hi neenasatine!
when i was still wroking in an office, my female officemates and i used to have lunch together on valentine's day. at night, when we have to separate (because some of us then were already married and were off to their dates with their hubbies) i usually went home--no big deal. it's not depressing really, it depends on what your priority is. but of course, you can still go out with good friends and have some cool, clean, fun.
take care and advanced happy valentine's day! :-)

thanks for the wonderful suggestion. however in my case most of my friends are busy..it's either they have their own families, or already working or having their own partner so i do not have a friend to spend with in Valentine's Day.. another reason is i don't have any officemates since i am an online writer... my workplace is my home... i'm always in front of the computer for 10-12 hours a day if i have many projects to do... but if only a few i will just spend 5 hours...
my only outlet in order to recover from depression is mylot, watching TV and playing games...this will also include doing a few household chores....
but if i have enough time, i tend to go outside and go to the malls, alone.
advanced happy valentine's day...

I would do something special with my friends (even if it's just lunch or coffee) or something I love to do. My family doesn't get too into Valentine's Day - we never go all out. This year I am going to help my friend do a scrapbook of her grandmother. I really looking forward to it.
