My 3 year old daughter just fell asleep on the computer chair while playing a computer game, a little bit after 6 o clock.
I'm wondering if I should wake her up or if she will just sleep until morning since she doesn't take naps. She woke up around 9 this morning. I just don't want to be up until 2 AM if this is just a "nap" instead of "down for the night". Have any of your kids ever fallen asleep this early and slept till morning. Thanks

I think it depends on what kind of a day she had, Was she outdoors and extremely active? If so, maybe she needs the sleep and just carry her off to bed. If you feel she is not that tired and will awken hungry in the night, then maybe it would be better to wake her up and feed her. You have to know your child.

tcolwell, Im aslo a mother of 9 yr old girl,,but i never experience that with her even Im not that hands on Mom to her I always make it a point that she could sleep within the 8 hr requirements... in your case she is still too young to be playing in the computer and able to sleep there too..maybe you could reorganized her playing time and sleeping time..its not yet too late to do that...as a mom we always wanted the best for our kids...sleeping in a computer chair would not be comfortable for her..theres no such thing as a perfect mom...but we are trying to be one..enjoy being a mom...

I didn't mean i would leave her in the chair to sleep. of course i would carry her to bed. I was just wondering if I should go ahead and put her to bed or wake her up in case this was just a nap.
Anyway, she's awake now, with her 2nd wind. I'm screwed. She won't be sleepy again until about 2 in the morning. I better make a pot of coffee.

I have a 3 year old son. My son also does that especially if he does not take nap in the afternoon. Sometimes he sleeps at 6 pm and up at 7 am. i think that is okay because every child have a different body clock

Yes, my daughter has. She fell asleep on the couch last week, I think. It was before 7pm. I don't remember exactly what time it was. Well, I let her sleep a little while and then tried to wake her. I couldn't get her to wake up and stay awake. She would open her eyes and look at me then roll back over. I put her in her bed and she slept til morn.

I would wake her up
sometimes the kids will stay asleep when they pass out that early for the night...
but usually get up at 5 am too...
it's never reliable to guess, so best to just wake her up & then put her to bed at regular time...

my daughter has done that plenty of times and shes 2 and she has slept through the night. has she eaten dinner or no because she may wake up hungry wanting somethin to eat. i have learned to feed my daughter early so that way if she does fall asleep early she wont wake up in the middle of the night wanting something to eat.

I would say if it is close to her regular bed time anyhow just let her sleep, she may sleep through the night.

I would let her sleep for an hour or so she gets the rest she probably needs then wake her up and feed her. If you think she is going to sleep till morning may be I would not wake her up but I don't see her sleeping for 14 hours so I would wake her up but after she got some rest and sleep.

Sometimes my kid sleeps while watching tv, espcially at times when they dont take afternoon naps when theyre busy playing, when i see then sleeping while watching tv, we just leave them there until its time for us to retire to bed also...i just carry them to the room and have them continue sleeping until morning...this often happens..

If it were my 3 yr old, I would wake him up. If he sleeps in until 8 or 9 in the morning, with no nap all day, he still can't go to sleep before 8 p.m. or he is up at 10 wanting to play for another 4 or 5 hours.
Good luck! :O)

I'd say she's down for the night. You should tuck her to bed. I know its hard to wake up at that time but tucking her to bed is at least a small task to do to show how much you love your kid. Its the small sacrifices we make to at least show our love for our kids.

I have a 3 year old as well. Sometimes he falls asleep really early and I am left with the same dilemma. Usually we are unable to wake him and have him in a good mood. I usually move him to bed and let it be. Sometimes he wakes up early, but usually its just a few hours earlier than normal, so not a big deal. Sometimes he does wake up for and hour or two in the middle of the night, but will usually just hang out quietly and fall back asleep.
Good luck. Its a tough decision to make. Think about the temperment of your child before falling asleep and in general, then decide if you should wake her or just move her to bed.
