Hmmm, I heard an interesting thing on CBC Radio this morning, about the younger generation deemed, the " Millennium Generation", those in the workplace, along side of Gen X and the Baby Boomers.
Being a Baby Boomer myself and growing up in the mind set that if you worked hard you'd be rewarded, and if not you were punished, I was shocked to hear that there are actually workplaces making it known that they are Face Book friendly. They let their prospective Millennium Generation employees know that they allow them to use Face Book at work, and supposedly being a great drawing card to the applicant. Wow I was amazed to hear this, and have times changed. Any thoughts?

We live in a time where the current generation entertains themselves via electronic. We visited our friends over the fence or in our/their homes, churchs, schools, etc. Today's generation visit via cellphone text messages and sites like facebook and myspace. Their community is global, unlike ours. It only stands to reason that this factor would be incorporated into their workplace. Bored employees and not good employees, so how to entertain them and keep them productive--allow them access to places like facebook. Makes good business sense but may, how times have changed!

Thankyou for your comment Roberten. You made alot of good points. It is a sad comment on the times and the world we live in. The internet has created a false sense of intimacy I believe. People are under the impression they are somehow "connecting" with others, sitting infront of the computer, in virtual worlds, having virtual relationships etc. But we are seeing more and more loneliness, disconnect, bored teenagers etc., who have difficulty thinking for themselves, entertaining themselves with an inabilitiy to effectively communicate. I know I must sound to some as a negative cynic. I am just expressing my thoughts based on my own experience and it is only my opinion. I blame much of this on the school system, but I won't get onto that rant! Thanks again for your comment! Namaste
