I wish to compare living standards of people from different countries. So write the price tag of some listed items that people normally use in your country. And write the name of your city and country too.
Salt = 8 rupees per kg
petrol/gas = 44 rupees per litre
chicken= 120 per kg

UK Prices
Petrol about £1 a litre that's about 78 rupees
Chicken from £2.18 a kg that's about 171 rupees
Sorry don't know the price of salt
To rent a modest one bed flat in this town is £600 a month that is 47,011 rupees
To buy the same is £120,000 or about 9 and a half million rupees
The minimum wage might be about £200 a week gross
all the best urban

Ah, no for that is gross they would be deductions and then they must pay council tax and for electricity and gas (You need heating here in the winter) Someone on the minimum wage would be hard pushed.
all the best urban

Thanks for the info.
Is that the British use less salt? :-)
The price of modest one bed flat is mindblowing. I pay 5000 rupees for 3 rooms+ kitchens and bathroom in Delhi. And it's very close to University of Delhi, the Oxford of India :-) Some would pay 8000 though, depending on how one bargains.
At the end of the month minimum wage earner can save at least 50 pound!

your living standard and ours in Delhi, India is similar, I think. I also think that if we compare simple and basic needs we may have fair idea about how our economy fares. I don't know, but I think there is truth in it.
Thanks.
