I've seen the promotions of a new television show about loving how you look naked. And I know that our western culture has a lot of pressure for physical beauty, etc. So I was wondering if most people like how they look naked. I don't want descriptions of your body, please, but when you look at yourself in the mirror what do you think about your body and how does that make you feel? I've always been overweight and always been ashamed of how I look. Now that I'm a senior citizen I look even worse but don't care as much. I don't like how I look and I feel discouraged about it. There is less shame than when I was younger, but I still don't have good feelings about my body. Am I in the minority?

I've never taken much notice of how I look until the last several years since I put on weight. My body shape has always been pretty strange as I literally have no waist. Self consciousness has always plagued me. Now that I'm older...it's worse. I don't recognise myself and I look bloody awful.

Hmmm. You must be nearing middle age. Be patient. When you are an old lady like me it won't matter much how you look. The important thing is if you are still able to get around. And when your eyesight gets bad enough you won't be able to see how you look anyway! HA!

I didn't dislike my body all that much...until I had my fourth baby. I am still thin and small, but now I have a C-section scar and it isn't even the scar that bothers me. But, where the muscle healed back together there is a lump now and I just hate it. Of course, after nursing four babies...I have issues there now too.

They told me that if you do ab exercises incorrectly you get that bump. So maybe it can still be flattened out! But, heck, you are a great mom! So not to worry.

I definitely have a lot of body issues, but with how the world is today, it's not really any wonder why everyone is so hung up about their appearance. I'm glad that tv shows and commercials and what not are taking a step in the direction to prove that everyone is beautiful. I'm starting to realize more and more I'm not terrible looking and that people just have a problem and like to go against people that are different than they are because it makes them feel good about themselves and wanted in a sense.

I try to appreciate what my body does more than how it looks. This is definitely easier as I age. Old ladies aren't expected to be lookers! :-)

When I look in the mirror I see myself as being unfit and out of shape. I have been thin all my life but after I had my daughter ten years ago my body changed and I was very happy with the way I looked. Then in 2003 I had a son, 2004 a son and 2005 a daughter. She was my last child and once I had her I noticed my body changed again but to my eyes I looked flabby and I still have baby fat I cant get rid of. I exercise and eat right but I still feel like I look horrible to my husband. I dont know if I will ever feel good about the way my body looks but my husband says he loves me just the way I am and for me thats all that matters.

I'm told that the kind of food we eat is more important than how much we eat and that a diet high in refined sugars and refined grains makes it harder to get the fat off. But I don't know, I'm not willing to give up all that stuff again at this stage of my life. Been there, done that, and where did it get me? I'm still old and fat!

I don't think I will ever love my body. In the past few months I have gotten a but and I HATE it, everyone says I don't have one but I do and its big. I really can't and don't want to look at myself naked.

I try not to look too closely at the mirror. And I try to remind myself how much my body does for me, no matter how it looks. After all, I wouldn't be here without it!

I have always struggled with my weight, but I don't know if I've ever really been ashamed of my body. I've been afraid to show my body off because of all the ridicule that people have given me. I was once obese when I was a teen, but have been within a normal weight range (or slightly overweight) for a long time. I still get comments from time to time from other people about being "overweight" even though I'm not. I mean, how skinny do some people think I should be? Do I need to look anorexic? I heard that show had some kind of problem because they would line a group of models by various weights and body size and place the contestant or "subject" in the line as to where he/she actually is. I think this is offensive to the models that they use to determine the size.

Hate my body. Even when I was young & slim I hated it. Heck, I don't get any pleasure out of looking at buff guys stripped to the waist or in swimming suits, or gals either, am I weird?

I don't think I'd say you were weird. I admire athletic bodies but not the body-builder types. Young and healthy looks good. Maybe you like to look at blue eyes or curly hair or hairy toes! Doesn't matter really, does it?

Hair on the head is great - don't get off on hairy bodies.

You are right. As long as the one you love loves you the way your are, all the other opinions don't really matter. And I am so loved.

people look at the skinny "beautiful" girls and say. there so pretty, i want to be just like them, there perfect. but in reality, everybody has at least one thing they don't like about themselves. i don't think its about how big or little you are. as long as your confident and feel good about yourself, thats what other people are going to see. most men don't like stick then girls. but to be honest, i don't like what i see in the mirror. and i don't think i ever will. but i am confident with my looks, even if the girl next to me is thinner.

I don't know why they think skinny is pretty. Some of the most beautiful women I've seen are round and soft, definitely not skinny. Besides, beauty on the outside isn't as important as goodness on the inside.
