My best friend has the same first name as I do. We didn't connect right off the bat, but actually about a year after we first met. We're a like, but a lot different. Personally, I think she's much more interesting than I am. You hear that Amber? No, not me. The other Amber...

Well for me....Ill admit it. My name is Drew. Just Drew. Thing is everyone else I have ever met named Drew is a boy and usually goes by Drew short for Andrew. So technically I have never met someone with the same name as me since mine is just Drew but when I do meet boys named Drew I tend to feel an automatic connection like they are naturally like me. Hmmm...Im glad that the two of you became friends...that sparks another point of interest. Has anyone ever hated someone with the same name as them?

Funny you should bring this up.
Yesterday, I met someone who studied with my husband and they share the same first names. I enquired more about his family...and was pleasantly surprised to know that his wife and I shared the same name and the same star! I connected with her instantly though I hadn't even seen her!
I don't know what it is...but you tend to identify easily with people who share the same name as you.

I think that only applies to some people. I am fascinated by others with my name, which is natural. It makes it a point of conversation or affirmation, but I wouldn't necessarily identify with them. I think that action would occur because we all have a keen sense of belonging: to a family, a group, tribe or whatever. We don't want to be excluded or ignored. So whenever we see someone with a name like ours, it also reinforces who we are and makes us feel even more significant an worthy. Hence why we might be tempted to identify with them in that sense of belonging.
