How will the universe end?

When time finally runs out what will happen then? Will it be the opposite of the Big Bang? And what about life in the universe?

This is posted under science. Anybody putting references to that Christ apocalypse stuff evidently does not understand science or, for that matter, believe in science. When time runs out, nobody knows what will happen, but there are 2 possibilities (and infinite ones that stem from that). If time runs out, our universe will either cease to be or it will disappear and another big bang will occur. As for the opposite of the big bang, I don't quite know how to respond to that. It would indeed be similar to an opposite. All matter in the universe would again condense into an infinitely small (0) space. This will happen via particle antiparticle collisions quite possibly. This would mean that the density of the universe is so large (which we have not proven yet due to how close our universe is to the critical rate of expansion) that it would condense rapidly at some point. The particles and anti-particle would then come closer and closer, and eventually annihilate. That is the only way that I can comprehend 0 space with infinite matter, but there may be other explanations, solely due to density causing collapse into infinitely small space. In the case of it restarting, another big bang would be caused by such a singularity releasing many particles and anti-particles. If they were to be fast enough or far away enough from each other, they could start a new universe. This universe could be the same as our own, or vastly different (most likely the latter). As for life, I should think deductively that it would end far before such an event, but even if not, it would certainly end with the end of the universe. Also, I'm responding to this with the assumption that you believe the end of time means the end of the universe. I have no ideas as to how time would even end, if you do indeed mean time itself.

I saw a program on this and I am trying to remember what they said. It seems like they said something along the lines of "when more time passes than has already passed, the universe will begin to die..." I just cannot remember how they said it would. I think they said that it would rapidly contract (as we know, the universe is constantly expanding... but into what??) So, I think it is hard to say what will happen when the universe ends. But consider this... it is a long ways away. I would say that if/when the universe ends, life ends too...

When the final battle will be over and Christ will devour the adversaries, He will establish His kingdom with Jerusalem as the capital. It will be a new earth where it is perfect for the people of God. If the final battle - Armageddon will happen today, will you be one who will be in that new earth?
