That is very nice.
Are you really close with your friend?
If so, I would return the favor by doing something nice for her also. I would give her a hug and buy her something nice if I had the money to do so.

Yes. That would be very nice. I bet she would really like that.

It depends upon what she did for you. If it was something small, then a hug and a card. If it was something larger, take her for coffee or to lunch. You could surpise her with a flower or buy something cute that you know she would like, but never buy for herself. There are lots of things you could do. Just make sure it focuses on something she likes.

A thank you is all you need if it's a best friend. If you want to buy her makeup (I read a post below) I would only do it if you know what colors she likes to wear. It might be easier to pick a perfume if she like to wear it. Definitely do what you can afford. And have fun picking it out too. If you can't afford to buy her something you could make her something instead - like a card. Or put some photos you have of the two of you together for her.

treat her to dinner or just simply thank her... anyway, if she's a real friend she would not want anything in return...

You might give her a gift if you can afford. But a "thank you" would be sufficient to show appreciation to your friend. You have a good friend, keep him/her!

I think you should show her how much you appreciate her/his effort of helping you. A simple thank you is enough. But of course you can also give him/her something to make her happy.
