Did anyone make any New Year's Resolutions in regards to scrapbooking? I have two. 1 - to spend more time scrapbooking my kids than special scrapbooks for other people (did 4 big ones last year) and 2 - to update my scrapbooking blog at least weekly. So, what about you - do you have any scrappin' resolutions?

I didn't necessarily make resolutions per se, but did promise to change some things: 1) Organize my scrapbooking stuff (especially the papers!) 2) Stick to a budget (re: my scrapbooking purchases) 3) Use my inventory 4) Add one new technique (learn something new) every two months. That should do it! I've actually learned more than 1 thing since the beginning of the year, haven't spent a dime, and re-organized my papers, so that they actually get used! Yeah!

The new techniques are: 1) I had received a Cricut machine for my birthday, and had been mostly using it for fonts, then shapes. I received the Mickey & Friends cartridge and the Mickey Font cartridge and learned the wonderful techniques of layering. Oh my! Such wonderful things I can do! I made a bunch of birthday cards for everyone in January! 2) I use my sewing machine frequently to stitch in my layouts and cards, but I found that I could use the piercing tool (done next to a ruler) to evenly space small holes and to stitch a small piece (if that's all I needed to do...). This allows me to save time if I am only doing a small piece and also allows me to use different types and gauges of threads that my sewing machine won't take. What a wonderful compliment to some crafts and layouts. This month, I'm hoping to learn "distressing."

Very cool. I bought one of those "little" craft sewing machines a few years ago for a scrapbook I did for my great uncle. I still pull it out from time to time. The last time I cheated through and used rubber stamps that have the look of it being sewn. Destressing is so much fun! Especially because if you did something you didn't mean to do, no one can tell because it's all part of the process. lol Sounds like you are having fun with your cricut. I have some friends that have some and they love them. I am dreaming of one of those cutters that you plug into your computer and it cuts everything out for you. Have fun scrappin'!

I don't make new year esolutions because they are too hard to keep. But this year I decided that I just must scrap, scrap and more scrap. Another thing I would like to do with scrapbooking is to think outside of the norm and do some really interesting and lovely layouts.

I use a few sites for inspiration for scrap booking. Scrap Therapy and Little Scrapbook Shop are two of them. The one I use for participation with work I've done is Chooksraps. If you type in either of those three into your browser you will find many layouts. Hoping this helps you. I have been scrapping now for about six years but I have only been scrapping over the net for about two years. I find it is a very helpful site and the participants are very friendly and helpful.

I agree resolutions are hard to keep. I decided to keep it simple and break my resolutions into small goals so they are easier to keep. Do you have your work somewhere online to share? I would love to take a look.

Probably to scrapbook more would be one of my resolutions because I have sooo many supplies and they are just sitting around, so I should start using them!

You are not the only person I have heard that from! Try to set some time for yourself to do it. I know it can be hard to do. So, I make a "date" for scrapbooking and schedule it into my calendar. By signing up for crops is a good way to do it. Or with a friend. I have a girl friend coming over on Valentine's Day to scrapbook with.

I know what you mean - always doing someone elses! lol. It's hard to set the time aside. My friend signed up for a crop and did a ton of pages there so she wasn't distracted. She put everything in but the journaling and added that later. That way she way able to do a ton of pages at one time and could do the journaling a bit at a time.

those are good new year resolutions! wow you did four?! I did three over 2.5 years and those were a real challenge already. two were for my wedding and one was for my honeymoon. actually, the honeymoon one is still work in progress. I have 3 more pages to complete! :) I hope to make two mini albums, including one farewell gift for my pastor and his wife. they are going for further studies!

Four - yup. But got nothing done for myself. I can get a big scrapbook done in a week if I block out everything (and I mean everything). But that doesn't include getting supplies or design, that's just production. I'm sure your pastor and wife will cherish the mini albums you are doing for them. So, this weekend I did 4 pages showcasing my daughter's broken elbow from last year. She's been wanting to show those photos at show and tell for months now. Have fun scrapping!

I dont really make New Year's Resolution. Maybe I did.. but on Chinese New Year, but it's only on my mind. With regards to scrapbooking. I love watching and reading about it. But have not started doing it. But if you could consider powerpoint with special effects on photos... hii-tech scrapbooking... I've done a love. I love doing it on the computer because I hate cutting, pasting, writing manually. Take care my friend.

I think I should adopt yours of using up some of the supplies I bought before. I've gotten better, but I still have quite a bit of back log of supplies.
