My other half´s just come back from tennis - he hasn´t played in years!!! He can now hardly move! I have some Heat Rub but he can´t find anywhere he doesn´t ache. Are stretches the best thing to do now or try to use the muscles again tomorrow? He wants a hot bath but he removed our tub last week to install a new shower! Doh!! PS he didn´t win, he was thrashed. Arrrr.

When you workout your muscle you should be taking a good protein shake for muscle developement and recovery.

Hi Victoria7! Wow, I've never seen this topic, yet it's older than my mylot membership! What he should've done is about 15-30 minutes of aerobic exercise and stretching right after playing (go for a bike ride, easy jog) to get the lactic acid out of his muscles. That's what our body uses to make our muscles sore and discourage us from doing more exercise than we can handle. Is he keeping up the exercise since then? Or is it going to be agony the next time that he decides to have you beat him in tennis again?

He should start out slowly. This happens when one has not excercise for a while and not use that muscles for long.Let it recover a few days and excercise them again till there is no ache.Between one have to warm up for about 30 mins first.

Alright, here are some tips. get your partner a hot water bag, after applying some pain relif gel. and next morning he should do some xercise, or should try to practise tennis but make sure not to bend too much. practise for 10 minutes. Continue same routine for one more day and pain will be gone.

A hot shower tonight. Aleve to get through the night. Tomorrow he is going to need to do some light exercises using the same muscles so they don't get tight....he won't FEEL like it but if he does it will work out the pain in the muscles.

I should think he has to go back to the activity so the muscles get used to the thing otherwise every time he goes out he will xperience the same

I think he needs a good massage and to rest and RELAX his muscles... Sometimes you think you're relaxed, but you're not, so he needs to concentrate and actually relax. And yes, hot water would have been the best solution, bad timing, isn't it?

Happy - Keep up the exercise
Lots of water to help repair the strained muscles. Stretching well BEFORE would have prevented this too. Motrin will help with the swelling and tightness in the muscles. He should stretch and do light exercise to keep lose.
