Hair growth

I had the haircut from hades about a month or so ago. The person who cut my hair claims to have been a professional, but I have never in my life left a salon & wanted to scream/cry at the same time. The lady in charge even came over and tried to fix it, but couldn't. She didn't charge me and gave me a coupon for another free one, like I'm ever going to go there again. I even took a picture in with me, I had had the same haircut at that same exact salon a couple months before so I thought, great I'll go back. I should have stayed at home or tried to do it myself. I would have had better results. The haircut was supposed to be where I could tuck the hair behind my ears, but it was cut like a man's haircut, cut over the ears. I said great, now it looks like a mullet. Remember those from way on back? She then went & got her boss, I said it looks like a mullet. Then when she got through she had my hair all spiked up going all directions, I said, forget it, you tried. I wanted my hair to FLIP up not spike out! My question is this, how long do you think it will take me to grow it back out over my ears? My hair is greying and I have colored it I think twice now in a month b/c especially around the ears, the grey will not cover. Any suggestions?

everybody's hair grows at a different rate, the old guideline was an inch a month. It is very hard to tell, sorry you had to go through all of that.

It all depends on how fast your hair grows. I had the happened to me once they had to cut my hair to just over a inch all over my head to get it even i felt the same way ya did i wanted to cry i would wear a hat or scarf over my head at my grandbaby 4 birthday party they pulled my scarf off my head right before they took a picture that was a very bad picture it took my hair 4 months to grow to just above my ears

I have been going to the same stylist for years and just before Christmas I got a perm...the perm from hell! It is sticking out in all direction and I have been snipping odd spots but it was still was horrible. So there is not much I can do but just wait until it grows out. I'm not going to make a fuss as usually I am more than pleased with my stylist but I expect her to fix it for free!

I really couldn't say how long it would take for your hair to grow out - everyone's hair is different and in most cases even different times of year the growth speed is different. I know mine grows much faster in the spring. As for the color - I just colored my own hair a couple weeks ago also to cover grey and mine is doing great, I'm sure I won't have to color again for a couple months.

I feel for you. I have had my experiences. I am guessing this woman who cut your hair is not the one who cut it there the last time. Each person's hair grows at a difference rate so it is hard to say how long it will take. I wonder how long that person was working there. She must have to do at least 8 to 10 hair cuts a day.

How funny that I see this post now because I am also in the process of growing my hair. I was looking at a website and it gives a recipe that supposed to help with hair growth thinning hair etc. It's called the Vermont Cocktail. This receipe is called "A Vermont Cocktail." First thing in the morning, get a large mug of warm/hot water and add Apple Cider Vinegar from your local health food store — unfiltered, unpasteurized, organic ACV. Begin with two teaspoons of organic molasses; then add 1 teaspoon of ACV along with a fresh lemon wedge(optional). Squeeze in the juice and add 1 tablespoon of honey (the honey will give you instant energy.) This drink will aid in the regrowth of healthy hair and is good for thinning hair, dandruff, itchy scalp, and a miracle worker for dry brittle hair. Helps to restore the proper acid/alkaline/ph balance to the scalp and hair follicles! ACV is a rich source of potassium as an artery softener and a great detergent of the arteries fighting dangerous bacteria and viruses. ACV is a powerful enzyme and is a perfect ph and aklaline balancer. It regulates blood, aids in digestion, and is great for calcium, sinus, arthritis and weight control. As far as the grey I have a few strands myself and I am going to start using henna monthly. Henna will cover the grey and condition the hair as well.

I hate when that happens. I know how it is because it happened to my mom. Me and my sister thought to do something special for my mom since it was her 50th birthday we took her shopping then to have her hair done. She got a newbie who just received her license and the girl ruined my moms hair. She has baby fine hair and my mom picked a picture out of a magazine while she was waiting her turn. The newbie said she could do it but she couldn't she messed it up then said my mom needed a 35.00 perm, and she preceeded to put on in my mom asked her repeatedly if it would harm her hair the newbie said no..she was wrong she fried my moms hair and then she brushed out the perm so my moms hair looked like a big fuzzy bush My mom gave up she wouldn't let the woman do any more because the more she tried to do the worse it got. We still had to pay this girl. The other woman doing hair had her clients hair looking so beautiful. That day my mom actually did cry. We took her to get her makeup professionally done and then we took her back home to a surprise 50th birthday party. It was the worst day of her life she said because she felt so self consious because her fuzzy hair. She ended up getting her hair cut to get the fired parts off as good as they could and she ended up with a jamie lee curtis short short hair cut. Which with my moms features she didn't pull off well, she wore a hat for a long time and didn't get out much till her hair started growing back some which seemed to take forever it took months. Taking vitamins can sometimes make hair grow faster. My mom nor us girls has been to a hairdresser since I receive a wig book now with all the measurements and that is how I cut all our hair now I have gotten pretty good at it and now everyone wants me to cut their hair..

As everyone has said, each person's hair grows at a different rate, and it is unsure how long yours will take. Mine grows fastest in the summer. I would suggest that you support good hair growth by eating sufficient high quality protein, and take a good multivitamin, and extra C and fish oil or cod liver oil.

Decorative scarves are all the rage. Seriously, they aren't just in around Hollywood, but I see them everywhere. People with short and long hair. Your story takes me back to when my mom took my sister and I to get our haircut. We were 5 and 7 and my mom requested the Dorothy Hamill haircut. We walked out in tears, both of us looking like Dorothy Hamill's brother.

Aww you poor soul - I have had a haircut like that in the past and I guess it depends on your own hair how quickly it grows - mine tends to grow about an inch every 6 weeks! I am sure in a few weeks your hair will no longer be a mullet (yep I remember them) and you will be able to feel a lot better about it! Have you tried a permanent hair colour ? xxxx

I feel so sorry for you. I have had a hair cut like that. I had to wear a scarf home because of such a hair cut once. It seemed like months before my hair grew back. I do not have any answers for you.

Poor baby! I can feel your pain! The only thing I'd like to suggest is that you consider buying a robocut and doing your own. Once I did a friend a favor by agreeing to let her cut my hair for a special event instead of going to the regular place. Well she kept putting off until the proverbial last minute and then stiffed me. Whoa. Fortunately, my husband had just bought a Flowbee and he handed it to me and said, don't worry--with this you can do a better job yourself anyway. And I did. It was fantastic. I kept the photo as my hair looked so great for that event. Then I learned that the Robocut works even better...So I haven't been to a "professional" to cut my hair for close to 20 years and just think of all the time and money I've saved!

My daughter could emphasize with you. Back in 10th grade, we went to a professional and she even had the picture of the hair cut she wanted. She had long hair and only wanted the back trimmed as in no more than an inch and she was going to have bangs that were long and flowy.. (sorry, hard to describe the look she was going after)..Anyways, this woman took off probably a good 3-4 inches and gave her short bangs.. The first 3/4 of her sophomore year, she wore a hat and we never went back there again.. Good news it will grow out, and my advice is to change who you have cut your hair..

Finding a good hairdresser is like gold. I tried a new place a couple of months ago, and was looking round this Barbers at the mess in the corner. The cut was rubbish as well.

Oh, I am so sorry this has happened to you. That is the same reason why I keep my hair long. Because of the stubborn graying issues around the ears. My question to you: How fast does your hair grow? Hopefully with in a month or two it will grow back. The only style I really can suggest is the kinda spikey style as well. Can it possible for you to go to a different salon and ask their opinions if their is anything they can do to help fix your hair?

It might take a couple of months, or it might take sooner. I have no idea. I know that my front hair grows faster than my back. I used to have bangs and I was forever cutting them. I would however ask for the hairdresser that did your hair before "former rock star" got with the scissors and turned you into a punker. You had no idea that this hairstylist did not follow your directions or wanted to experiment. I would take a picture of your hair as she cut it and find out from other clients if they did the same thing to theirs.
