Do you think helping others really make you happy?

I have learned that helping others really does make me happy. My mom is a Cathecist, so early on she already taught us how to be generous. I remember when I was young, she would have us go to this Church downtown with lots of street children, and they would line up and we would give them all presents. Just thinking of that makes me smile. I guess when you get brought up that way, it is really easy for you to give. It always puts a smile on my face when I am able to help someone. Even when it is just a little thing. Like this one time, this little kid was having trouble getting a can at the grocery store. It was at the really top shelf, I was nearby and saw the whole thing so I stood on my tiptoes and got it for him. He smiled this big toothy grin and said thank you and I couldn't stop smiling after. I don't like selfish people too. But sometimes you just have to understand them. Maybe it is something that happened to them in their past that is making them act like that. Like someone abused their trust or tricked them.

i think so because if you can help others, it can make your heart so happy, that you can feel that you did a good thing to your fellow..same here, i also give money to some beggar it can make me feel good too.. also, if i can solve the problems of my friends i'm happy for that...sometimes, we really have to give to others, helping others and sharing things that we have..

I think helping someone and seeing the direct result of helping that person always makes someone happy or helps them in some way makes you happy. Especially if you can see the result of your actions right away.

I agree with you. Doing good deeds for others indeed makes us feel better about ourself. It does not have to be a big thing that we do, even the little acts matter.

It does make me happy when I help someone in need and see smiles on their faces.

It makes me happy to help someone. Doing good deeds I believe reflect on what kind of person you are.

I really feel happy when I help some one who are very needy and poor, whether it may be in terms of money, clothes and others. If you donate some thing to others who are downtrodden in turn you will get help/benefit from others. If you spend 10% of your income for the poor people god will return more than you have incurred so please always try to help others by giving money,books, clothes etc.

Hi yiskylee, Yes. Helping others make us happy. It provides us a satisfaction for our living. I did this to many people and I live in a proud society which calls me 'great person', infact if I analyse what type of help I have extended - it will be mostly advice. Good Luck.
