after-workout nutrition

what do you eat after a workout to ensure proper recovery? i have read somewhere that after a workout, you have to eat really nutritious food in order to benefit from the exercise you just did

You will want to rebuild your muscle tissue as well as supply oxygen to those muscles. Drink water before, during, and after a workout. Protein is important for keeping your energy up and rebuilding your muscles. Drink good quality protein shakes and/or eat high protein foods (beans, nuts tuna, chicken, etc.) Vitamins and minerals are also important. Remember to eat your vegetables and fruits and whole grains. ;-)
