A blog is just like a book and if there is no readers it does not have any value. Actually not the creator but others those who experiencing a creation should qualify the creation. Unless there is no readers or no visitors a blog will be only one of the millions of blogs in the vast world of internet. It may have value like a hidden treasure. but unless it is revealed the treasure don't get any value. So a blogger must attract people to his/her blog. Yes search engine will do a part of it. But a blogger must also do whatever he can do thorough at least some simple methods to attract others to your blog. This may say site promotion. Anyway this is a must for a blog. I mean blogs those are meant for public (not private blogs)Can you agree with me?

I agree that for people who want to earn money from blogging, a blog will not be one unless he gets some visitors. But for some people, they find pleasure in blogging even though there might be no one to read it. It all depends on what is your purpose of blogging. To some people, it is like an online diary and so they prefer to keep it a secret. You wouldm't want people to read private things about you now, would you?
Some people blog about politics and things that are of concren. To them, their blog must have visitors to support them with their causes.
I myself have tried to earn from blogs. So far, I have between one and three visitors per week. I am planning to submit my blog to a blog exchange site to get more visitors.
Anyone here has a good way of getting visitors to my blog at http://shiroublog.blopspot.com
By the way, I can't open your blog. I kept getting the "internet explorer cannot display the page" error.

I have to say that I know people that blog just to talk about themselves and/or hobbies. They enjoy doing it - if it gets read or not. It's extra kudos to them if someone reads it and likes it. So there is the value. Now if someone is blogging just to earn money, then there would be no value if no one came to look at it. I am curious as why you say a book has no value if it is not read. That book came from the effort of the author and the author values it. Also, unless an author writes a book and never publishes it or shares it with anyone, I think that every book out there has been read by someone other than the author. Even if it was just friends and family of the author. I will go check out your link, though, because I am always reading to see what's going on out there. Take care.

Hello Sukismiles, I agree with you that it has a value but just like hidden treasures. The value cannot be realized until it is revealed. Thank you for your response.

Yes I agree - a blog is really nothing without its readers, but do not fret simply because the one who's typing the blogpost is a reader himself so practically you have at least one guaranteed reader! Hehe.
Well, my blog started out as just for personal use and was intended for therapeutic use but later on I realized that having a blog with no connection makes a dull place, pretty much like a house with just yourself in it.

Well, I say Yes and No. A blog is a diary, and of course, if it is made with the aim to earn some money, it certainly is nothing without readers or visitors. But there are persons who use blogs for their personal interest, this is a good therapy, you can speak out loud, you can learn a lot of things, etc.
Anyway it is pleasant to know that there is someone who reads what you write.

I don't think its very necessary for a blogger to attract people to his blog...
Some bloggers just want to have a blog and write about their daily life etc..to them its just a diary they want to keep...Whether or not if other people visits their blogs, does not matter to them...They don't need faithful followers or sorts....
But of course, there are bloggers who are into just earning money from blogging...So these people try as hard as they could to get seen by others....promoting very aggresively..

Initially I blogged just to share my experiences, but to get more visitors I used Feedburner to allow visitors to subscribe easily, and to promote in social sites. Later I posted my blog (computer tech links in my Mylot profile) in directories (mybloglog, blogengage, blogcatalog, and others), and joined forums - which increased the number of visitors...
