Built in web cameras in new laptop computers....

What do you think about web cameras in the new laptop computers? I am always afraid someone could hack into my system and see me through the web camera. Is that possible? Anybody a hacker here? Is it possible to actually hack into a computer and turn on the built in camera?? You always see in the movies where people do that to watch someone. I was just wondering if it is actually possible to do that. I guess I started wondering ever since I bought a new laptop computer that has a built in web camera. That and the fact that I watched that new movie "Untraceable".

It is entirely possible for someone to do that, but I honestly doubt anyone would go through the trouble of doing so. If you're that worried, tape a piece of paper infront of the webcam while you're not using it. :]

Ha, I bought a new laptop a couple of months ago, it has a built in webcam and the most annoying thing about that is that when the screensaver comes on - it shows what it sees through the camera.. which on a Sunday afternoon is often me with a terrible hangover! Disgraceful setting which I'm sure can be changed.. so I should probably get round to that.

i think it is a good thing for laptop beacause those who want to use webcam they can now use it freely and as you say any one can see you through your webcam?
So i want to tell u one thing that noone can see without your permission through you webcam...

If the hacker is really that good, it is possible for him to compromise your system and get to your webcam and see you through it...
However, I doubt anyone would want to do that since it takes too much effort...
If you have a good anti-virus software installed, I doubt the hacker would be able to gain control of your web camera

it is posible if u acsept software from somebody else that u don't know but it's a hard work to get it done normaly u will see a light on your bild in laptop turn on if it's on butt don't worry i think thise will become easy after a couple off years for the hackers but at the moment if your mouse isn't running without u doinging it there's no way they can get that thing on :p
