I was sitting at work today and noticed someone eatting a pop tart. He had one with the frosting and pulled all of it off that didn't have frosting on it and threw it away.
He said it was too dry and he never liked that part.
I've never really liked that part, either but was taught to eat what you like the least first and save the best for last....so what I do is eat the outside edges off of my pop tarts.
I don't care if they're toasted or not, right out of the package is good for me.
Do you have a certain way you eat your pop tarts?
I thought it was kind of funny and was thinking that maybe they should make a pop tart that is completely covered in frosting!!
What do you think?

Yes they should cover the whole thing with frosting! When I'm feeling conscientious I eat the outsides first and then the frosted part. But often I remove or leave the outsides altogether (and feed them to the dog if I'm at home). The kids are the same way.

OH!! we had a pop tart stuck the other day, and while it didnt start a fire, I'm glad you know how to put that fire out!
They have pop tarts in the machine at work and alot of people put them in the micro, I have never tried it, but alot of people tend to like them that way.
I'm going to have to try them like that sometime.
Are they any softer in the micro?

10-15 seconds in most microwaves is all you need. Although I tend to like mine hot so I often do 20-30 seconds. The downside is that with like any bread or pastry, it'll get hard if you don't eat it while still warm. And yes they are softer when nuked.

Oh and we like ours warm - except my son who prefers them not toasted. I let the kids warm them for a few seconds in the microwave. Used to let them toast them in the toaster until we had an incident - the bottom of the cabinet is still slightly scorched from the toaster fire caused by a lodged pop-tart. Which by the way - the best way to stop a toaster fire is to dampen a dish towel and cover the toaster completely (after unplugging of course). This smothers the fire.

Yes!
My family has a very specific method to preparing and eating poptarts!
Some actually think it's odd, but it is the best way to eat them!
The must be toasted. Frosted is preferable, but the outer corners that don't have the frosting must reach a golden toasted brown.
Once toasted, one must apply butter.
The butter then must be slowly and delicately be spread around the surface of the poptart until it is evenly melted and coats the surface of the poptart.
Two poptarts prepared at the same time are ideal.
Once placed directly on top of the other.
Each one buttered.
Once they are toasted, buttered and stacked just right, THEN they must be cut into four pieces!
One cut across sideways and then once from top to bottom.
You will then have EIGHT small rectangles to nibble on!
And the guy who threw away the part that was not frosted? HE'S NUTS! That part is just as good as the frosted part. Both parts are equally savory but different.
You GOTTA try them this way! They are SO YUMMY!
Take care

When I butter them, the butter usually doesn't quite make it to the edges. But even one it does, it still just tastes better.
Of course, when I'm in a hurry I can still just eat them right out of the bag.
The technique just gives them a little extra oomph!

How horrible to disrupt the integrity of the noble Pop Tart! I hope that guy was reported to the ASPCPT (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Pop Tarts)! Yikes! I say, if you're going to devour that ambrosia of the gods (Really! Zeus and those guys ate them, but they weren't called Pop Tarts back then), it should be done in its entirety. Completely covered in frosting? That might be a bit hot to grab when they first emerge from the toaster.

OMG!! You are great!! I mean...FUNNY!! I laughed the whole time I was reading this comment....uhm....you were joking, right?!
Out of curiousity, what were they called back in the day....you know, when Zeus and all those guys ate them? what kind did they eat?
I was thinking that maybe if some red or blue pieces of those thingymajiggers (what were they called?) got on those nice, white, clean godly robes of theirs......it might have made them ungodlylike....so uhm...what kind wouldn't stain white?

That's ok, if everyone liked pop tarts, there would be a shortage and I wouldn't be able to buy any on a regular basis and then my kids would get upset and think I was hiding them all undedr my bed or something. Keeps them from looking under my bed!
I like peanut butter on toast, but rarely use jelly if I toast it and if I have myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the bread has to be soft and fresh.

but if i was in a situation where there was NO food available..and i have been
then just about everything you can imagine would taste good..fresh or not...
after a few days without eating you soon learn to lower your standards on food...even when the water is not available you drink stuff you would not think of drinking...thirst is the most important thing..as you can go a long time without eating but not a long for water...now i am thirsty thinking about this..good luck

I would love a poptart covered in frosting. i usally either eat the dry part first or tear it off and throw it away b/c its too dry. LOL i can eat them toasted or none toasted too. there good both ways. maybe we should write the poptart company and tell them to make one dipped fully in frosting. But its not just that it doesnt have frosting on it its also b/c it doesnt have any filling in it. if you know what i mean

lol...yep, know what you mean!! if they made them the way I would make them, they would be messy, kind of like the way I make pb&j sandwiches!! that would be awesome!!
(btw....I went to a pop tarts web site and they have a great page for kids to play games and trying to get kids to get out and get moving) but I couldn't find one to give them a few of my ideas!! Heck, I was gonna tell them all they needed to do was add more frosting, but more filling would be great, too!!
**wondedr if I could slice one in half and jam them together? thicker with more filling and frosted on both sides!!**

While Poptarts aren't my favorite thing ever, I do eat them from time to time. I prefer the frosted ones. And yes, it would be much better to have one completely covered in frosting. My kids leave the edges on their plates, saying that they just don't taste as good. LOL

I am not a big fan of Pop Tarts but my brother use to eat the all the time. I have always thought they were dry and gross, even where the icing is on the top. I would rather just eat something that tastes better - like a real piece of fruit. LOL

I eat any type of fruit. Right now apples are in season, so I have been munching on those daily. Plus Pop Tarts are a no no in our house because of the processed sugar and partially hydrogenated oils.

I like the chocolate ones that have the vanilla frosting and vanilla filling. I also like the Oreo ones. I like mine to be toasted. The outer crust, the dryest part is actually my favorite part of my Pop-Tart. I like the frosting, but I wouldn't want the whole thing to be covered in in. I enjoy the "dry" parts.

I'm partial to the brown sugar & cinnamon. Good thing is, none of my kids like that kind at all and refuse to eat them ones, so i don't have to share!! :D
Have you tried the cinnamon Roll ones? they're good, but like the other kinds..not enough frosting!!

I don't like the sides at all and I usually break them off if I have the time. The frosting and the filling ARE the best parts. If they made one covering the top in frosting, it would be golden. If they covered the bottom in frosting it would be too sweet for my taste, especially as a breakfast snakc. I also eat them just right of out of the package, come to think of it I don't know if I have ever actually eaten one toasted--- maybe the chocolate ones with the marshmellow something or another. Strawberry icing with the strawberry filling is my absolute favorite. I haven't had them in forever though... I'm going to go grab some later. So good!

lmao....so glad I talked you into it!!
you're right, though....if the bottoms were covered in frosting, they would be too sweet.
I don't usually toast them either. Since they're a "quick food" I make sure I get mine quick. it's good for when I'm driving or I let the kids eat them on their way to school. Beats doing dishes from cereal or eggs & toast after I get home from work.

I always just take a big enough bite to get part of the edge and part of the frosting....I agree with you thought the edges of the pop tart are really dry and I don't see why they can't just make pop tarts that have frosting all over it(back and front and edges)

I just bite into the pop tart and eat. I have never just eaten the edges by themselves. I eat them right out of the package as well. Sometimes i toast them and sometimes i put them in the microwave for a few seconds the add butter to the top it it. So if its strawberry or chocolate it tastes like pie.

I sure do agree with you. I never liked the edges either. They need to cover the whole top at least right up to the edges in frosting. If they coated the bottom it would make them even better but it would make our hands sticky. I do what the guy at your work did. I would break off the crust edges and throw them away and just eat the frosting covered parts. I dont care for pop tarts anymore. I used to eat them with my friend every day when we would stay after school and hang out. I guess I got sick of them.
