How Many of You Participate in Helium Marketplace?

I have been a helium member for quite some time but I have to admit that I have never participated in their marketplace even though they pay more money there. My main concern is that I only write beauty articles there and they don't have those needs a lot on there. I am wondering if you only write things that come to your mind or if you would check out their marketplace and research on topics which you are not familiar with and write about it because it pays more?

I never published in the market place either, until just recently. I saw a few topics that I thought I would be able to write well in. So I tried it. I'm not number 1 in them, but my articles have defeniatly gone up in rating!

Great! Congratulations. Even if you are not no 1 but you could still keep the articles for the pay view. So I think I would do the two beauty topics I found today too because I want to add more articles there anyway.

Me too! Until today, I was curious in the marketplace and browse through the topics. Finally they have some for beauty! I marked down two topics which I have knowledge on and plan to write them on Friday morning (the coming Friday would be my computer day *laughs*). I still don't think I would write on the topics which I am not familiar with just for the sake of money - my mind goes blank when things are not interesting to me *laughs*.

I was. not anymore. It seems to be a great place for writers, I am more into blogs and journals, not much into articles. It may not make sense to some people, but for me Helium doesn't feel like the right place to be. Maybe one day I can sign up again. The tech staff is very supportive and understanding. I don't write for money, I write because I know and like writing about it. If you do like and know about beauty products, I suggest keep doing it in or outside Helium, someone will surely notice you are for real.

Yes that's what I am doing for now. I am mostly writing beauty things on my blog and as well as on helium. So far so good. I just wish to keep a portfolio there as you never know what kind of opportunities lie ahead!

I do write for Helium every now and again. However, it seems to take forever to make any money on the site! Anybody out there with any tips? How do you make money on this site?

well the first article i wrote for helium was for the marketplace. i looked through it and i didn't want to do the ones that required a lot of research. there were game reviews though. so i downloaded the trial game and played it for an hour and wrote a review. that's the kind of research i like to do. lol. i'm number 3 out of 18 and it has only made a cent so far. they only pick a couple i think. if you want to read it: http://www.helium.com/tm/815823/games-addicting-takes-tired

*laughs* I think they only pick a handful, but it's cool as you could keep it as one of your articles there!

I did an article on gardening. A disappointing experience from memory, it got so-o-o buried. Everyone and their Uncle wrote for it. The request was for a very long article, so I really had to put a lot of paragraphs into it. Then it was a month after the deadline before they chose someone. By then, my article was so buried,I didn't even have to worry about it. That was my one and only experience trying for it. Most of the topics aren't of all that much interest to me. Same problem with the contests. Once in a while toward the end of a contest, if I see a topic that almost no one has written about (like less than 5), then I'll write about it. You would be so proud of me! I wrote a beauty article. How to look like a 50's Bombshell. There weren't very many writers for that toward the end. So I just played with it and fooled around and had a good time with it. Take care

Hey wow! I am so proud of you but I am not surprised because you write very good! I was never in the marketplace section and I remember I browsed one time and it was all related to financing and cars (which I have absolutely no knowledge on)! But today, I wanted to catch up there and saw two beauty topics which I know of something *laughs*. I think I will give them a try but I surely won't place my hope too high, there are really some experts out there *laughs*.

I was a member of helium but i had to leave, the pay out is $25 and it takes for ever to make that I been a member since 2006 and up to now I still have not made the pay out, plus you have to write a article that is 1200 words, to much work for me and they only pay you if someone read or rated your article, that site is a waste of time, this site is much better than that site.

No the minimum word is only 400! I haven't got paid by them too, like you said it takes forever but I think it's a rather good opportunity to practice my writing, so I stay. Indeed, I am half way to my payout and hopefully I could get something this year.

I hope you do reach the payout,I think helium is cool, but I hate having to work so hard just to make a little bit of money, but I wish you well on your writing and on helium. Have you ever heard on www.ciao.co.uk or www.gather.com. You can also write on those sites and make some money.
