I want to write a children's book. I have the characters but I cannot decide on the story line. Also I am not an artist how should I go about illustrating the book with out having to pay some one to do it?

If you have friends they might be able to do that for you. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you about the illustration. I wrote a children's book once, but haven't done anything with it. I have to get pictures for it and haven't done so yet.

If you mean a book that you're planning to get published, you don't have to worry about finding an illustrator. The publisher does that. It's up to the author to think of a story. It's also a good idea to read children's books to get a feel for them. If you're planning a picture book, read picture books.

Writing a book for children is a noble work. Obviously the book should inspire the children in the fields of bravery, enthusiasm, hardwork, sincerety and honesty.
Regarding illustration, there are thousands of animation artists who can practically generate any type of picture you want. If you have ideas you can lend them, they come out with pictures. Best is to have an artist locally, so that you can interact with him now and then and perfect the pictures.Avoid using internet pictures, because most of them are copywrighted.
