Well today, Monday, here in Minnesota it was 48 degrees farenheit & sunny with light rain on and off all day. Now we are in for a severe change in the weather for the next 2 days. We are going to get a few inches of snow and the temps will be falling all day Tuesday down to minus15 farenheit. So in a 36 hour span we will go from warm and rainy to frigid and snowy. A temperature change of over 60 degrees. This sucks as I was just getting over a bad cold now this happens again. At least this frigid weather will only be around for a couple days then back to the normals of 20 for a high temp and 8 for the lows. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Changes in climate starts long ago. But then which one had eyes for it?
The past is paying in present.

Would you like some cheese with that whine? hehe. Its been in the 50's today with rain off and on. Tonight we are getting a cold front in, with wind gust up to 50 mph, rain changing to snow. The temp is going to be around 5 degress by 5 in the morning. Plus we might have thunderstorms with the cold front. Low wind chills, its all your fault. You are sending it down this way. I remember you were wishing for snow, becareful what you wish for. Stay warm, I wish I didn't have to get out tomorrow, but I do. THINK SPRING

Yes please. HAHAHA! I've got so much trash in my yard from the 40+ MPH winds today blowing everything all over. I love the snow. And I love the cold. As long as they are together that is. No snow and this cold bites big time. HAHAHA!

Gees, sorry I can't live up North in temps like that. I spent four months at Great Lakes, Illinois during the winter season for the Naval bootcamp. I couldn't wait to leave that area. How do you keep your socks from freezing? Well, I'm guessing your not outside long enough to have them freeze.
Here where I live now, the temp tends to drop 40 degrees or vice versa. I can handle temps at 15 as long as there is no wind. Our lowest so far has been around 9 at night, luckily I have my husband's Army undergarments to put on under my regular clothes.
Enjoy the snow though, my kids are praying every time the temps drop and they say snow on the news. It's depressing that they haven't gotten a chance yet.

We wear thick heavy wool socks is how. Some are even heated to keep our feet and toes warm. HAHAHA! Seriously heated socks. In these types of winds and cold not many people are out. Most the city is shut down tonight and tomorrow due to the windchills and blizzard like conditions. We even had 2 interstate freeways shut down due to visibility of less than a hundred feet.

I wore 2 pairs of those heavy wool Navy socks while in bootcamp and luckily my feet didn't freeze, but the top layer was frozen to the 2nd layer. It was so much fun trying to take them off and having to get them to thaw out so I could dry them fast enough before it was time to go out again. I wish the Navy wasn't cheap and gave us heated socks. Also we were lucky that we didn't have a blizzard or a white out.
I do remember one day, we had to go to class. It was beautiful, the grass was green, sun shining. Thought to myself spring is finally here, lol. By the time class was over and we where heading to lunch, the grass and the sun was gone. Everything was covered in snow, it was so depressing.
Well, stay warm, and hopefully on groundhog's day, spring will be right around the corner.

grandpa bob, we have the same weather here as you. Yesterday it got all the way to 69 what a nice day except for that darn old wind. But today it is so cold out it is 21 degrees right now and windy.
Late tonight it should snow again, I am so sick of the snow and cold weather.Just 2 more months and spring will be here,I just cant wait. That means it is closer to think about my garden.

Ahhh gardening. I also can't wait for that to come around. I'll be starting some plants indoors soon as well to set outside. I have a huge garden each year also. Along with my 2 apple trees, black rasberries, grapes, and strawberries. I can't wait for April and May to see my lilies poking up from the ground etc. One from last year shown here.

Yea, we're getting it today, not sunny but the snow has just about all melted and tonight it's supposed to be going down to -14 degrees. We do have ice on the dirt roads and drives though - I almost feel on my butt going to the van this morning and it was funny 44 degrees and there were a bunch of schools canceled because of icy roads.

Right now (3 p.m.) it's 6 below zero with 31 below zero windchills. Brrrr! I fell in my driveway last night after rain then freezing temps. Didn't get hurt except for my pride a little. HAHAHAHA!!

I get sooo nervous when it's icy because I have fallen a few times and each time it seems to hurt more or do more damage.

It was 48F on Chicago today at 4PM, heavy rain at 5PM, snow and temperature dropping started at 6PM....
Now is 10PM and it is 9F...
It is not normal and so scary....
(for people who now Celsius only, 48F(9C), 9F = (-13C)
It is about 3 inches of snow so far...

That is a very dramatic temperature change. I dont think I have experienced changes so sudden and dramatic. Even in spring here, it can range from 15C to 35F.
That is why so many people get sick when you get these massive temperature changes. The body doesn't like change or sudden drops in temperature.

The worst part with this change is the 40MPH winds making it feel even worse. Brrrr! I went to get the wife and my nose felt frozen just a short walk to the car. It's terrible out. The state is advising no travel tonight due to the windchills and blowing snow in some places. They've even opened some National Gaurd Armories for stranded travelers due to the blizzard etc. Glad I live near the city.

Sounds like you will be caught up in the house for awhile Grandpa Bob. I am one of those people who could never stand a cold weather. How opportune that i was born in a tropical country. Whenever i get to go to colder places here in my country, I would start to feel bad. Now i cant imagine having snow. Gosh! I may have to lock myself inside the house and never come out. LOL!

Good to see you again. Must be busy lately? I won't be going anywhere I don't have to for a few days till it warms up a little and the winds die down. Actually a lot of people have bunkered themselves in their homes for a few days. Just 30 miles south of me they had teriible blizzard conditions with visibility at less than 100 feet. 2 Major highways closed due to this weather as well. Not fun at all.

The main part of the storm went south of me so I did not get any snow today. Which is good as I won't have to be out in this terrible wind shoveling the snow.

Sound like the world is really changing. The weather doesn't have a pattern anymore. Here in our country, by this month, its suppose to be dry season right now here in my country but as of now, its been days of on and off rain. Usually this kind of weather will start by June, but its happening now and its still the first month of the year.

Sorry you still feel bad, colds are so miserable.
Here in Ohio we're having big changes, too, although not as extreme as you. I'm so happy! I was stuck in Arizona for the past 28 years and finally moved back to the Midwest...if you think you're miserable now, imagine sunshine and cloudless/windless skies--day after endless day with little or no change and 9 months of 110+ heat. That'll make you grateful for Minnesota! All that constant, unchanging "good" weather is actually more depressing than the short winter season back here.
Feel better soon!

wowza! we also have had some drastic changes, though not quite so drastic. we went from 6 degrees to 60 degrees over 2 days.
I do hope you do not get sick from this drastic change in temperature, that seems to be a prime time - I guess our immune system gets a beating when the temperature fluctuates so rapidly - must be a trauma to our systems.
get plenty of vitamins C and B.

Well the snow is going to miss me anyhow. I might get an inch possibly but not the 3 plus originally predicted. Some highways here are closed due to white out blizzard conditions. I35 and I 90 are closed in areas due to the weather. It's all heading into Wisconsin now.

Here in Tulsa it was 67 when I came to work. Now it's 35 out there, and I only brought a light jacket, lol! I think we might get some rainy/icy/snowy/slushy stuff on Thursday, but the weather has been changing so rapidly the past few days, that I'm not sure if that will really happen. I kinda like winter weather in the winter.

Hey Grandpa Bob yeah I got your response back in my topic on cold weather. It's weird because it seems that a late start for 2008 to be like an ice box for sure. My aunt who lives in Washington in Bremerton said it's like -6 degrees below zero there and she has a cold. That really sucks and I understand you just over a cold and me too last month I was sick for almost a month. Well I can't complain since I got my usual beanie on and dickies jacket. Just need gloves. Happy mylotting!

Last week or 2 weeks ago we had a stretch of a week with below zero temps. A couple days we were in the 20's below zero. Way too cold for me. HAHAHA! I don't mind the cold it's just the wind is what is really brittle and dangerous. This kind of wind and temps like today cause frostbite in like 5 minutes time. Lots of layers of clothing here. HAHA!
