I rarely feel depressed and lonely. And why do you think some people are taking medicines for it? Do they have just a depressions or something comes within that they don't really know? I do'nt think that you can treat depression with medicine or prescriptions.I think that you need to face the solution and challenge in your life rather than asking help from Physician. I just thought that some doctors only wants your money. Because if they really want to help people's health why can't they provide free advice or help? Not unless if you need a big operation or surgery for your beauty.

There are many underlying reasons for depression. Some may even be chemical imbalances such as bipolar disorder. With this one going to a psychiatrist is not enough. The person needs a medication to balance the imbalances in their system. Some people have side effects to depression that just talking about it does not help, such as slepplessness, or loss of appetite. Depression can be really serious and cause the individual to not be able to function well or at all. Some doctors may just treat for the money but I think most doctors will help you with meds and a referal to a psychiatrist or therapist and some won't even give the meds but send you to see a psychiatrist who will evaluate if you need meds at all. Depression can strike suddenly and without warning or cause also. You are very lucky to feel balanced and happy in your life. I hope things will stay this way for you. I also hope you will speak to someone if depression ever does strike you as sometimes those suffering from depression will try to hide it and that can make matters worse.

Hhhmm well you are very lucky that you've never had to deal with depression first off...And secondly for SOME ppl, yes its just a matter of going to counseling and talking, working through the depression but for others such as myself its not that simple...I NEED my medication...I've been battling depression since I was very young and the more that went on in my life the more severe my depression became..I've been to therapy, numerous times and would like to go back at some point but even WITH the therapy I need my meds. In fact my therapist WOULDNT get into the major things in my life without my being on antidepressants first because the trauma is SO intense...

I have been there. three and half years of depression. also had some medicines back then which I felt not really helping too much. the most thing that supported me back then was by accepting the facts, all the facts that I had to face, no matter how hard life was. and I tried to keep socializing with the others in order to not stay focusing to myself and my problems too much. sometimes physician couldn't help us, you know, the most people that contributed to my recovering were faithful members of my family and my closest friends. and also, when I went outside and saw how many people had suffered more than I did, my mind was opened after then and later I could cope with my depression, trauma and harsh life.

Depression is different for everyone. What might not make you depressed might make someone else go over the edge. As for me, I always feel depressed if the circumstances happen around me are very tough and when I feel that I can't cope with them. It's something like feeling you are the worst person in the whole world.

i think the weather makes me depressed, and the fact that im getting older. i see how my parents spend so much time at the doctors for appts., and all the medication they take to stay alive. they forget what you say, and they cant hear you. it makes me scared and fear the fact that this will be me in 20 years. thats enough to depress the most happy people of all!

Dear Lotspace You are very lucky not to have this. There are many different kinds/stages of depression. For me it does run in our family. My dr's. believe me don't want my money.Yes some people can treat there's withpout meds. They can exercise, the stuff sami a vitimin designed for that, all kinds of things. But for me it is 2 different chemicals i have very little of.The med. gives me this.I have had thios since 16 or younger now i am 59.I can't work anymore,i can't cope.I miss working for i loved to be with people. I don't know what you mean a op. for beauty?i'm not depressed because i was ugly, infact i was very pretty,so i was told.It is a illness and does hold a stigma to it from alot of people who actually don't understand the diesease.I read about it before the computer age,now the computewr is here and learning about the new ways to deal is so nice. Hoped this helped you in some way. Brenda
