Now I've Heard It All: Marijuana Vending Machines!

Well...as you can guess this is something that can ONLY happen in the state of California--hey, no bashing I was born in CA. But here's the news:The idea is a vending machine that dispenses certain quantities of the usually illegal "weed" to those who use it for medicinal purposes and have an actual prescription for it...here's the article:
"....Two medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles have installed pot vending machines. They're accessible 24 hours a day and monitored by security guards.
After cinching up your doctor's consultation, hit an AVM location to get your prescription approved, fingerprint taken, and a prepaid credit card loaded with your profile: dosage (3.5 or 7 grams, up to 1oz a week) and strain preference (choice of five, including OG Cush and Granddaddy Purple, the mildly hallucinogenic forebear to Prince). Then day or night, all you do is hit a machine and walk away with enough vacuum-sealed, plastic-encapsulated cheeba to adequately treat your illness..."
Here's the link....also just heard it on the news.

mmmm..despite the so-called security how long do you think it will take people to access this machine...LOL?

:-/ *blink blink* Ok...I'm sorry but this is the DUMBEST thing I've ever heard...The risks are too high, the message it sends to the public particularly the young is a very bad one and its just a stupid, stupid idea on all levels...Not to mention the fact its in L.A where docs will prescribe just about anythign to anyone if you pick the right doc :-/

Darn! If only I had one of those in my kitchen! I wonder if they posted this in High Times magazine. Now I've heard everything - Hmmm! This is probably already up in Amsterdam - they probably had them before California.

Yes, I'm almost surprised here in NY we don't have that yet...we're supposed to be so "sophisticated" and "with it" here in the Big Apple...LOL

Only in California? I think not... I'm sure it'll find other markets, like say, Vancouver.

Thats so cool I have MS as you must know by now and have been looking for somewhere to get it and a doctor who will prescribe it here in Canada its hard to find one who will do it as doctors are all scared to prescribe for fear of being charged cause it isn`t legal here yet ...
Maybe one day our PM will legalize it for that sole purpose ...

I just don't see why they don't legalize it to begin with everywhere, do you?

That is pretty dumb.. Wow. who thought this one up?
In canada we have houses set up where people who are legally allowed to purchase and use pot for medicinal use can go to, to pick up their stash. The people who go to these houses i assume wouldnt disclose the location to just anyone, as they needs the weeds! I dunno if that's much safer, but i'd say a house is better then a vending machine. . The older man who GAVE me this information, was terminally ill, he didn't tell me where the house was, but he told me how it worked. You could go in and get cookies with the doses in it, or you could get them in prerolled joints. I must have a pretty honest face, people tell me the darndest things.

I didn't know that about Canada. Yes, I can see why that man kept the location of where these "houses" are....could you imagine the stampede of people that would go there then? LOL

So what is stopping the person that is able to get it from taking it home and sharing it with others? Or selling it for money? It seems that it is just making it too easy for ppl to get it. Surely there are other medications other than pot for their health problems.

I used to watch their movies at the drive-in! For anyone that doesn't know..a drive-in was like a parking lot where you sit in your car and watch movies on a big screen outside. Where else could they, or would they play Cheech and Chong!!?? All that smoke.wheeww!! Good thing it wasn't smellavision!!

WOW. LOL first time I've heard about it. Well depending on the security. . .I'd say not very long because some people are pros at faking precriptions that look legit. If they want the weed badly enough, they'll get it. 0_0 I'm from California too. The question that strikes me now is. . .why VENDING MACHINES?? Why not have them at a pharmacy instead? LOL
