We typically use one called S'Wheat Scoop. It seems to be pretty absorbent and good for controlling smell even with multiple cats. We didn't have any difficulty transitioning our fur-babies over from regular granular litter to this stuff, as I guess is pretty common. If you have one that's a tad particular about what's in the box, I wouldn't think you'd have too traumatic of a change over to this stuff.

Now that you mention it, you're right about the not-so-great smell that the wheat gives off. We have our kitties in a sort of out of the way area of the house. I'm not the one who changes the boxes either, so I guess I tend to forget about the out of the box smell of the litter.
Is silicone & pine the actual name of the litter? I don't think I've ever seen something like that in our local stores. Is it a brand you can find in any of the major grocery stores? I'm always open to trying something new if it's been given the thumbs up by other people--especially if it makes a less stinky living environment for me and the fur babies. :-)

its not a brand...its 2 different cat litter i manually mix it up...
i forgot what the name is, i'll try to check later.. but for general info...
i used wood ( made from pine as the shopkeeper told me ) pellet, and mix it up with silicon litter..it dont really smell as the wheat, and its very economical too...the silicon can be used up to 1 whole month (for one cat) without changing but the sater waste that absorbed into the pellet have to be changed.

The best litter we have found so far is the Arm & Hammer brand. We recently switch to the Arm & Hammer. It has all the deodorizing of baking soda, is biodegradable, no dust, and the package is half the size of the 21 lb box and last just as long. We have 2 cats and were using the Arm & Hammer multicat, this stuff works just as good and has a better smell to it.

I have used several types, but the only one that I have found to be really good is Worlds Best Cat Litter. It's made from corn so it's biodegradable and it's clumping, very absorbent, good oder control and can be disposed of easily by being flushed down the toilet. It is a little more expensive, but it's worth the extra cost.

I have tried so many different kinds of litter and just recently decided to stick with one....Arm & Hammer. I personally like it because of the way it tames the smell. Of course you'd expect Arm & Hammer to control oder but also the bigger tubs of it are sold at a good price! One that I refuse to use is Tidy Cat. It really sucks. I try to clean my cat litter boxes out a few times a day and well in the past when I have used Tidy Cat it just smells like I haven't cleaned it in weeks! I'm also NOT a fan of how their litter is made.
