Second Hand

Here in the Philippines, there are several stores selling second hand items. Most of these stores sell second hand clothes, bags, shoes and toys. This kind of business has a very big market. Perhaps it is because of the kind of life that most of us have in this country that makes this kind of business boom. Items are sold for as low as 10 pesos or US$.25.
Well, there are good finds too! You get to see cool articles if only you are very patient. If you are lucky, you get to find items that have never been used. Maybe these were surpluses from the country of origin.
For people who do not have that much, this can be a good alternative to department stores and malls that sell goods at expensive prices.

I love thrift stores I recently bought my little sister a like new coat for her to wear since she grew out out of her other one. It only cost a $1. Can't beat that price for a winter coat. I will go to thrift and used stores to get things before I will Walmart and the others because why pay full price for clothing if you can get good or new things for a good price? Just call me the queen of thrift, my husband does..lol

Yes that is true it takes patience and focus, so it is best to always buddy up to help look for things, and also try to leave the kids at home but some love going to look through the stuff as well.

My boyfriend and I get a lot of things second hand, and we like that. Who the heck has a lot of money these days? You cannot go out and buy everything new. Second hand is not always a bad thing. I have gotten a lot of good second hand items. A lot of my comic books and some of my clothes were all second hand.

You are right... Second hand is not always a bad thing. I think it's a matter of looking for a good buy.

Funny thing in the states, people who can afford to live in wealthy areas tend to love thrift shops, library sales and auctions. They love bargains but they want quality.. On the other hand, lower middle class people tend to get their bargains new at

There is nothing wrong with buying second-hand and surplus items from other countries but we can't deny the fact that it is killing the nation's clothing industry. Also, it enhances the colonial mentality of many Filipinos that think that those from other country are better than our own.

I sometimes buy second hand stuff like mobile phones. I love collecting mobile phones for spare and I find it nicer because it's cheaper and it's ready to use.

as you said there are a lot of surplus stores here in the philippines. and i am one of those who gets in on those one of those stores specially when my children needs something for school play or anything they need to use on school programs. i dont want to buy new clothes when they will only use it once. i now how to sew so if i see any material then i can still remake it.
toys? yes very interesting but my children are teens already and most of the toys i see at surplus are tos for younger kids.

Here we don't have many places to sell second hand products. Perhaps people don't like buying them. In fact so do I. I want to buy something I can afford rather than second hand products. As it's hard to tell whether the second hand product you buy is good or not.

Hello dear polo field friend. We used to have a lot of second-hand stores in the city where I live. That was before the nineties. But later this kind of shop gradually disappears. But still there are some second-hand shops buying and selling used electric stuff, like washing machines, refrigerators, air-conditioners and digital items. I think that this kind of shop is really nice for those who would like to have a second-hand stuff. It is really a very good alternative for those purchasers.

Oh, I adore thrift stores. In the US, we have a ton of thrift store chains, as well as some non-chain thrift stores. I tend to get most of my clothing and pretty much all my books from thrift stores. I love them so much because you can find such a unique variety of things. I've found so many odd-yet-cool shirts and books there. My mom and I shop at them on at least a weekly basis, whenever possible.
