Does your school have an after school program to help your kids with homework?? Mine does and I love it. The help them with homework the first 45 min. and then they get to do diff other learning activities until 6 if you leave them there that long. My daughter went till 6 pm for the first couple months then she decided she was to old for it ,lol shes only,so now she goes until 4:30 Mon,Wed,& Friday instead of everyday till 6.But it has helped her tremendously. She was slightly behind her age group for the first yr and half. Shes still behind in some things but really doing better in others she wasnt before.

When I was in elementary school in the late 90's & early 2000's, I went to a after school homework thing, but I hated it. It was mostly for kids who's parents couldn't pick them up until after work. We all had to be silent and work on homework independantly.

These kids get to make snacks , play on computers and and play in the gym or outside like recess. They have a structure setting and also a learning. They also bring in people to do like a book reading and then give them all a free book or like a (not sure on spelling) but a tyquando demonstration and other stuff like that. Its an AWESOME program. Its called the BLAST Program.

We have the after school programs here as well. They are great for doing crafts, teaching them a second language, and they even have a class once a week for teaching martial arts. It is Monday through Thursday till 5 pm. Both of my oldest children attend it and have brought their grades up in the process. To bad they didn't have this around when we were in school

i'm not sure how they do it over there. we have it here in singapore too. my son's still a bit too young so he doesn't have them. but i did. grins usually, if the teachers find us weaker in a subject, a notice is sent to the parents asking for their consent to enrol their children in remedial classes. it helps those who're weaker. so basically, those students who need more time to catch up go for these classes. it is really a great help to them as while in class as usual, they might feel left out due to not understanding what the teacher is talking about. i definitely like the idea of an after school program too. of course not all have to be focused on education and all. there are others which include sports and so on.
