Do you spend tons of money on your kids clothes? Like do they have to be from The Childrens Place or is walmart ok. Most of my kid's clothes are hand-me-downs and that works for right now becuase they are only three and about to be one. But my neice is having a really hard time in school becuase she has second time around clothes but they are name brand just not off that stores shelves. She's not scrubby or anything. So do you buy brand name or have your kids just deal with it?

I'm all for saving money when it comes to purchasing kids' clothes. They grow out of things so quickly it's hard for me to justify paying a ton of money for something that might only get a handful of wears before it's too small.
For me, Wally World and all the other chain-type stores are totally fine for clothes shopping. I live for finding bargains and will gladly root through the clearance racks to find a great price. Likewise, I'll shop at thrift or consignment stores to get a deal too. I've been fortunate enough on several occasions to go into a thrift store and find name brand outfits that look like brand new (some even with tags still attached!) for only a couple dollars.
I don't think you really need to spend a fortune to dress kids well and make them still look fashionable (if that's your thing) or just plain cute.

I don’t buy expensive clothes of brand name for the kids unless they are on sale. Children always grow up very fast so it is wastage to spend too much money on clothing. I feel that to be comfortable, is the priority for choosing clothes for children. It couldn’t be denied that the brand name could always comply with this requirement. I do buy brand name clothes for my kids, but for clothes with reasonable price only.

I like for my sons to look their best so I won't hold back when spending money on them. They don't have to always have the most expensive stuff, but I do like the brands to be well known.

It partly depends on the age of your child. If they are teenagers, then I would hate to put severe limits on clothes spending since it can mean a lot to them. But at an earlier age, there is no need to spend so much. Many second hand shops sell clothes that are barely used, if at all. As long as you buy it for them and bring them home, they will be none the wiser. The clothes you can get are about 10% the cost of new ones and they are just as good.

i think kids should put up with what they get til they are old enough to buy their own clothes. Style shouldnt matter to kids, they should be going out wrecking their clothes when they are younger anyway

i have only 1 daughter, but we do both.. we buy some (very little) on places like The Childrens Place. we go to jc pennys, khols, macys ect. for "better" clothes. a lot of her clothes are hand me downs from friends of relatives. or wal mart. i LOVE wal mart, probably 1/2 of her clothes that we have bought come from there.

How do the kids no her clothes are second time around? I buy my daughter clothes from goodwill and no one but me knows where I bought them. I also buy from stores clearance racks. I try to never pay full price for anything.

I buy bargains. Whether it is a name brand or not. I find clothing in high end stores on the clearance rack sometimes that cost less than Wal-mart. It is all about what you find, not where it came from. You can even shop online, and find super great deals on great clothes. Funny that you mentioned the Childrens place, because here, their clothes are about the same price and quality as Wal-Mart. :O)

I think its important to stress to kids how "cool" it is to be an individual and think for themselves.
I proudly wore thrift store clothes all through high school...people usually commented on how they liked my funky clothes (I'd wear bell bottoms or men's dress shirts or some pretty strange t-shirts)...a few people made fun of me, but they did not phase me...I knew I was better than them...I actually started quite a few fads that the popular kids caught on to (like wearing leopard skin slippers in public cool)...
My kids will be wearing nothing but thrift store clothes or cheap clearance stuff...I think it is sad when kids think they need the latest name brands to be cool...it is all about defining your individual style.
