Has anyone had any experiences they want to share...
My Mom is retired now & on a fixed income, in November '07 She was complaining 'bout how much TXU was charging her... I went over & changed all her light bulbs 2 flourescents where I could...
I saw a segment on WFAA (Dallas, TX) 'bout other 'lectricity companies could save U money, went on their site & switched her 2 StarPower thinking I was doing her a favor... her latest bill was $290...50% higher than she ever paid w/TXU.. Vat causes zis?
TXU was charging 14.2/Kwh & StarPower was at 10.3/Kwh,
How is this possible? Where R the hidden fees? & Why?
Talk 2 me people!
AC

We are blessed to have an electric "cooperative" where we live, which is more like a non-profit and they are very reasonable in their rates. My heart goes out to people on a fixed income who are fleeced the unexpected and often unreasonable rate hikes from local taxes and electric companies. I bet you feel awful after trying to help and possibly making it worse. I am sorry I do not know anything about power in your area, but I do wish you and your Mom the very best, Ann

When we lived in Texas, there were 2 companies we could choose from. One had a better rate than the other so we went with them. I believe th explanation I got when I asked was the type of power one company used over the other. You may want to call the power company and see if they have a free program where they come out and tell you where your energy is going.
Here our rate fluctuates every month. What gets me, is that we are charged a fuel adjustment (which is usually MORE than the electricity we actually use) and we run on all nuclear power. We were not charged this pre-Katrina. WTF is that about?
