Teething Woes

My son has been teething these last few weeks. Whenever he's about to get a new tooth he wakes up in the middle of the night and tosses and turns for 2-3 hours. He never cries he just can't sleep. Of course, that makes for a crabby kid the next day! I've tried giving motrin before bed and applying Orajel. What do you use when your kids are teething?

When my kids started teething, I would wet some wash rags, put them in zip lock bags and toss them in the freezer. I would pull one of them out and let them chew on the wash rag. The cool of it was very soothing.
If the motrin isn't working, maybe try some baby tylenol. Short of that, it's just something you have to deal with. The wash rags really did make a huge difference though. If they woke up in the middle of the night, I could grab one from the freezer, take it to them, let them start chewing and put them back down in their bed. They would usually go right back to sleep.

I'm currently going through this as well. I found some teething tablets at our local Walmart store. I used them when my 3 yr old was teething as well. I like them a lot better than orajel and it seems to soothe them faster. They instantly dissolve when put into the mouth. He seems to calm down in the evening whenever I give him 1 around bedtime. There is no Tylenol or anything else added to them. I believe they are homeopathic as well.

Your gonna think I'm nut every one else does. An old family secret... wisky on the gums. Dip your finger in a bottle and put it on his gums it will sooth the pain away. I'm not saying get your kid drunk and give him wisky in his bottle just a drip from your finger directly onto the gums. Put it on your gum or even tounge first and see what the effect is. I promise if you just put the drop from your finger on the gum he won't get drunk or any thing. I have had many friends say I was nuts and many that have done it and said wow I would have never thought. It works better then orajel any time. My doctor said not to give my daughter Orajel because of the numbing agent it may cause her not to swallow. The few times I gave it to her I didn't see a problem. Just some thing to watch out for.
