Do You Have Insurance?

We have our homeowners insurance and our vehicle insurance through the same company. We were supposed to get a discount by doing this. On the bill, it shows a discount. However, we just dropped the insurance on our truck because we could not afford to buy the gas.
Here is the strange part. We received a check for $4.35 from the insurance. The next day we got a bill for $43.50. Now they are saying that we do not get the multi car discount so we have to pay the amount to keep our van insuranced. So my question is: What the heck is the $4.35 for???

Maybe, they had a typo and you were supposed to get 43.50 back? I do not have homeowners insurance or vechicle insurance since I do not own a vechicle. Did you cash the check for the $4.35? If not I would take it back to them and maybe show them their mistake. With all the problems everyone seems to have with the insurance companies I guess I am lucky not to have to deal with them.

I do not know what you got the $4.35 for. It looks like 10 percent of the $43.50 so it could be that your insurance bill was 43.50 minus the 10 percent and that the bill was to arrive earlier. It sounds like the smaller amount was a discount, but whether you have to return it or apply it on the regular insurance I have no idea. The best thing is to call your insurance company and find out.

Call your insurance company and ask them what the $4.35 was for. Insurance billing is one thing I will NEVER understand. I have to call the billing department for our insurance constantly. We have 2 vehicles, a trailer, business liability, and home owners all with one company. It seems something is always messed up with how they applied payments and such. What a pain!

I like to have all my insurances with the same company, for the small discount you can often get as well the fact for me it is easier to remember just where I have my insurances...all neat and tidy I think.

That sounds about right. Most insurance companies are a ripoff. We have two vehicles and homeowners also with the same insurance company. We get the discount also for the multi-behicle and ADT home security. They must have gave you a 10% refund.
We have to file a claim tomorrow on our home. We had a bad storm come through and it tore up some stuff on our back deck. I bet this will raise our payments because it seems that every year now, storms are tearing through here and damaging things on my property.
They always get their money back somehow.

Hello dear anne. I do not have insurance for any vehicle as I do not have one. But I have some other insurance like pension and medical insurance for both me and my wife. We have bought some kind of insurance for my son since he was four years old. I think that it is very important for us to have some insurance as it is considered to be some security and pledge to us.

Did you drop your insurance before the renewal date? If so, could the $4.35 be the pro-rated amount left before the insurance expired?
I know in our area, if you cancel your insurance before the renewal date, you get the appropriate portion of your money back. Although $4.35 doesn't seem like very much to get back for remaining insurance.
