Do You Have Indoor Cats?

We never had indoor pets until our oldest daughter left for college. Our youngest daughter was lost without her sister. One day I went up to the building and found a dead mommy cat. There were two new born kittens trying to nurse her. I brought the kittens home and my youngest daughter raised them. The would suck milk off her finger. We still have one of them still. One died before it was a year old. That has been 9 years ago now. The kiten was raised in the house and still resided here.

We have 1 indoor cat and 1 outdoor cat. We got Boots (black and white with white paws) and Furball (Himalayan looking) from my husband's sister's farm. We spent 1 whole hour chasing after Furball who kept running from one corner of the barn to the other. (there was a lot of stuff in the barn so she kept getting behind things) - all because that's the one my husband wanted :P Furball disappeared soon after having her kittens under the neighbor's shed. We think the neighbor may have taken her and given her away. Boots has been with us for several years now. And has had a few litters of kittens. One (the spitting image of her mother) which we kept, declawed, spayed and brought inside. She prefers my younger daughter the most. So when my daughter and I are cuddled on the couch under the blanket, the cat usually joins us. :D

"declawed" Shame on you. Do you have any idea what you did to her? Read up. www.declawing.com www.de-clawing.com You should be ashamed of yourself for mutilating your cat like that. Shame on you.

My parents have an indoor cat - the little fella had to stay in when he was younger as he was getting beaten up by local cats! Then we moved house and he just got used to the indoor life - he sometimes ventures into the garden but never goes to far out and if the door is closed behind him, he's not happy! Sits their meowing! My mum had a feeling he was getting fat, so turfed him out for a while regularly - he was never that happy with the cold Scottish air though and preferred the luxury of the fire and TV! Can't really blame him!

Aaaaw! I think you guys are a wonderful people for showing such kindness toward those little kitties in their time of need. :-) When I was a little kid, we had indoor/outdoor kitties. We were fortunate enough to live in a nice, quiet area where it was safe to let the cats out during the day if they wanted to mouse or play. We later moved to the 'big city' and it just wasn't safe to let the cats outdoors any more. Needless to say, the kitties weren't terribly pleased with us for quite some time. We eventually moved back to an area where it would be safer to let the cats outside again. But I did some research and ended up finding out that cats that are kept strictly indoors lead much healthier and longer lives. So I've opted to keep the bunch of cats we have as strictly indoors. Besides. It makes it that much easier to control the flea thing if they're not traipsing around outdoors getting into who knows what and possibly brining those nasty little buggers back in with them. (ICK! lol)

Yes, there is a cat in our home who allows us to live with him! Ha! He is absolutely spoiled rotten. We got him from the local animal shelter shortly after moving here. He is now about 11 years old. He has never been an outdoor cat, only an indoor cat. I would have another one but he would die if he had to share his 'domain' with another cat! I love cats!

We have 2 indoor cats. Actually my cat Indy was never ever allowed outside until we moved this summer. We lived on main street before and now are miles out in the country. She loves it outside but would have a fit if she wasn't allowed in the house - she's an indoor cat with outdoor privaleges.

We actually have an indoor kitty cat....his name is casper...we had sort of the same situation as you did...it was hail storm and the momma cat tried to bring all of the kittens in(she did so but casper)and we went out in the hail storm and got the kitten and warmed it up with a heating pad and then basically had to take care of the kitten ourself. Indoor cats can be a handful though but then again you are somewhat better with an indoor cat because you don't have to worry about them when they are outside(like getting chased by dogs, hit by a car)

Reagan and Samantha - Here are two of my cats the other one is camera shy. Reagan is the gray and white one, and Sam is the dark colored one. They are the ones we have had since they were about 5 weeks old.
Yes we have 3 cats indoors. We have raised two of them since they were about 5 weeks old. And the other we have had since she was probably 6 months old. They are all about 5 years old now. They are the funniest things sometimes. They also know when I don't feel good and they will lay on my lap or lay in the bed with me. I have had cats most of my life so it would seem weird to me not to have them.

We had a come into the house when they feel like it, but prefer to spend time in the yard cats. That was years and years ago. We had one when we were in Saskatoon, or was it in Burnaby, B.C. I remember having a cat when I was young and a dog as well, and they spent more time in the yard, but then I had some emotional experiences that hurt me badly so I forgot much of what did go on.

We have an indoor cat named Wilbur. He is a mess! He will find the oddest places to lay down and take a nap. The funniest place was when he got on top of the entertainment center in my parents' bedroom. However, when one of them turned the light off, he jumped from the entertainment center onto the bed with a big THUMP! Wilbur is an indoor/outdoor cat, but he is A LOT of fun!

Hello dear anne. We used to have indoor three kittens while my wife was doing garment business years ago, but we did not have them long as they made the house so smelly. We sent them to our friends who would love to raise them and I am so glad that they had their new home to stay in. Now my wife and son have an indoor poodle, about three months old. It is so cute and beautiful, but it does not have a good habit of using the bathroom. It just pisses everywhere on the floor. This poodle was sent to us by my brother-in-law. It is right now sitting next to me close to the heater to keep warm. I love it.

my cat Izzy has always been an indoor cat. She was supposed to have been an indoor outdoor cat but my outdoor cat Q didn't want her around and would be mean to her so I just decided to have her be an indoor cat, I think she likes it better that way. outdoors scares her.

That is so sad, but it happens often. That's why it is SO important to spay and neuter cats and dogs. The mother can die in childbirth just like a human can. The only difference between a human and an animal is that it's easier to nourish a human than it is 6 or more kittens/puppies. They have to be fed every other hour by bottle and it's hard as heck to do that. I'm glad you took them both in. It was very nice of you to rescue them both. I have both indoor cats and indoor dogs. The dogs only go out to go to the potty then they come back in. They like to laze around outside when it's pretty outside, but they know they belong indoors. All animals should remain inside. It's safer for the animal. I've never had one of my inside cats get ran over by a speeding truck or get beaten by a neighbor's kid with a baseball bat. There are so many dangers outside that I haven't listed that do not exist inside. All animals deserve to be safe inside your home.
