I just recieved this email from a friend and had to share it with you! If it is true, it's a really awesome way to alert the police!
If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.
For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the
machine.
The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.
This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.
Did you know about this? How cool is this?

I have heard about this before & it is untrue. I can't post a link or copy & paste. However if you go to Snopes.com & type in reverse pin it will tell you that it is false. Just another urban legend.

I figured as much due to the many possible combos of PINs that would be the same as mine backwards. HAHAHA!! Thanks.

DANG. Really?! Well thanks for letting me know. It would be a waste of time trying to get the police while getting the crap beat out of me, huh? Get the money and give it to the thief and run as fast as one can, right?
Thanks for passing it on!!

What if all four digits are the same? I ask this because mine is very close to that. I hope that I never end up in this situation. But if I do, I hope that I will remember to do that and do it effectively. I do not work well under pressure, to say the least, LOL.

If all the numbers were the same then it would not work but one would or should know better than to have them be the same. Since yours isn't the same then reversal would work. Neither do I work well under pressure so I don't know if I could do it effectively either but at least we know it's there. It's some consolation anyway.

Now another question. You used 1234 as an example. I am sure then that someone would have 4321 as their PIn. So this sounds like it has WAY too many flaws in it. I don't think it would work very well. I've never heard of it and don't trust it wither as I am sure the PINS I use their are some people with my PIN backwards. HAHAHAHA!!

LOL It takes a great mind to think like you do Grandpa! But if it did work, it would be because of the card number and the PIN that went with it. It's all false anyway which makes me feel like the dummy in the class!! LOL Oh well, it's better to be corrected than to not know at all, right?

Unfortunately according to Snope.com this is false. I think that would be a great idea if it were true. Perhaps the banks will take this up in the future but for now it is just another myth.

I believe i would ask my bank about this to see if it is true, I have never heard of it but that doesn't make it true or false.because you have to remember that the chances that some one at that bank has the reverse of you pin number actually for their own. I know you have a debit card but well as I said I will check with my bank to see if it is true
