How much do movies cost in your area? Do you feel this price is fair? Do you buy popcorn even with this price?

i think the movies are out of control. the quality of movies has gone down so far that i'd much rather get my netflix and buy popcorn from the dollar tree than spent at least 30 bucks for a movie with my girlfriend. with the writers strike, its only going to get worse for a while too!

Here it also depends on which day of a week you go and in which cinema.
The cheapest way is to go under week (Monday-Thursday) which costs around 6€ (~8,87$) and on week-end it mostly costs around 9-10€ (~13,30$)

Prices here (Illinois) are on average $6-8 to get in. Thankfully our small town local theater only charges $4 per child and $6 for adults. If we buy food we try to buy combo deals - and (shh) we do sometimes sneak in candy in mommy's purse.
Pay-per-view is $3.99 per movie per day. With occasional $1.99 specials on "older" movies.
Recently Redbox came to our area and we've really enjoyed it. Redbox is a kiosk located in some retail stores and McDonald's. It lets you rent DVD's for $1 a night. We've been watching on average 5-8 movies a weekend now!! It's so nice to snuggle on the couch and watch movies in the comfort of your own home.

Depending on the time you go, they cost between 4.95 and 9.95. I think the prices to go see movies are very high. Popcorn or snacks are a totally seperate price on top of the movie ticket. You could easily spend 40.00 to go see a movie in this area.
