We love the Beatles(well I do) and we often talk about the best song, the best this and the best that, but, what is the worst line you can think of? Mine is in the song "When I Get Home" with the line, "I am gonna to love her until the cows come home" What's yours?

"Michelle, ma belle/ these are words that go together well/" I always thought that was pretty awkward.

Is that McCartney II or is that Pipes of Peace? or other. I have it somewhere on vinyl, but, don't recall the title of the album.

Sometimes Paul write some utter rubbish too. He released a song back in the 80's called Waterfalls. Talk about terrible words like "Don't go chasing Polar Bears..."

After nearly forty-five years, I still absolutely love The Beatles. I have most of their songs, including the Anthology CD's as well as the DVD's, courtesy of my son as a Christmas gift to me. To be sure, The Beatles wrote some pretty awful lyrics, as well as some bland ones. I believe that early on, they didn't consider the lyrics important, concentrating instead on composing the most beautiful melodies. As for one of my favourite/worst lines... The entire song "Come Together" is nothing but jibberish. At the time, everyone was "finding" hidden meaning in Beatles lyrics and so when John wrote "He got toe-jam football, he got monkey finger, He shoot coca-cola", He reportedly said "Let them find some meaning in that!"

John wrote some, let's say interesting lyrics. His song Dig a Pony was like this, what does Dig a Pony mean?

Same problem with "I'm the walrus". Has anybody understood what the lyrics are about? Great song though, same goes for "Come together".

Most of the lyrics to "She loves you" are pretty bad though the tune is good and the way they sing it distracts from it. The whole Chorus just being made up of "She Loves You, and Yeah" is pretty unforgivable, shows that they learned quite quickly how to write good lyrics when you consider they were only around as a band a few years.

True. I did read that until Lennon wrote In My Life (Revolver) he only wrote songs about a girl/boy and love. He had not used his poetic skill in any of his songs. As to simple lyrics, what about "I Want You" on Abbey Road. I think the whole song is made up of the following phrases; I want you, I want you so bad baby, it's driving me mad ,she's so heavy.

The first 40 or so songs the band wrote were about "boy/girl" relationships. And then, then...John wrote I'M A LOSER, from 1964's BEATLES FOR SALE. And you know the rest....what a wonderful rest!!!!!!!!!

I marvel at the Beatles. They wrote over 100 songs and most of them are good tracks. There isn't another band past or present that I can think has done that. Most bands write/wrote 1 or 2 good songs and then filled their albums with b sides. When you consider how good songs like Sexy Sadie, In My Life, Dear Prudence, Martha My Dear and many more, all of which are technically brilliant, well played and good songs, yet none would have been considered good enough for an "A" side release.

It was a definite sign of the troubles ahead for the "fab four." Paul thought they were getting bad legal advice from their manager (and they were) and thought John was being needlessly loyal to him. There is some that say that Martin had the hots for John & John might've even slept with him once. Not that I care, there were a lot of mistakes made, but that's just life.

Another good one, although, I always think of this as a filler, rather than a real track. I understand this is the one song that upset Lennon more than any other due to McCartney doing it all on his own.

What about "You'd better keep your head little girl or you won't know where I am" from "Run For Your Life" in Rubber Soul? I love the song, but the lyrics are outright sexist!

I grew up in the 60's. Trust me. Everything was sexist back then (compared to today). The Beatles songs were no more and probably less sexist than others of the day.

Good one. Rubber Soul was imo a changing style for the Beatles. One of my favorite albums.

I wouldn't read too much into this song, most songs and lyrics are just "put" together and not too many really have a background. George Harrison was quoted as saying that he was just making words match his music while with the beatles. This makes sense as George always claimed that Something was not about his first wife(Patty), while every tried to make out it was.

Wasn't that based on a real event? Something to do with a fan coming through a window and becoming a groupie?
