Dobby in Potter Films

Do you think that the character of Dobby was completely neglected by the Harry Potter Movie makers after the second movie? We don't see Dobby after movie 2 even though he is there in all books starting with book 4. His character is replaced with the character of Neville in many places. do you think movie 4& 5 would have been better if Dobby was shown? And what about Dobby's role in the last movie?

This is just one of many things that get left out of the movies. I's a time thing. Each movie would have been too long and too expensive otherwise. There have been rumors of Harry Potter mini series being made. if they do that, alot more time will be given to things including Dobby.

Time and tech reasons. Until the last book I don't think Dobby has any real influence on the story line, even though the little mentions in the books do keep him on your mind.
In the DVD of the most recent movie is an extra short that shows the influences of earlier books and movies into the later ones. Everything in the series comes around, and you can see how something in the beginning has an effect on something later. It is one long story of the 7 years of Harry Potter, and his friends, lives.
If you can it is great to read the books, but not necessary.
Someone asked me about the Order of the Phoenix movie, I told them if you didn't read the books you will be satisfied, but if you did read the books you may be a bit dissapointed. I enjoyed the movie but saw a lot that was missing from the books. Dobby is one of those things.

Well, digitally adding Dobby to the films is expensive and time consuming... i think these are some of the reasons why the did not add his character to the other movies... but i think J.K. Rowling should have intervene with the producers' and writers'decision...
A lot of Harry Potter readers love Dobby and they (me included) were saddened that he was not included in the films... but i wish Dobby will make a comeback in the next two films...

I know adding Dobby would be difficult. but i hope he won't be cut from last two movies. the movie makers should show some justice to Dobby's character.

I was actually annoyed by this replacement of Dobby in both films 4 and 5. But when you consider HP films, there are a lot of things omitted in the film because of the time and money constraint. So, I guess they just thought it was better to omit Dobby for the time being. If they are going to do it again in HP 7, I guess I am going to be raging mad. Like somebody above said, I would definitely be looking forward to a mini series, or a cartoon series in Harry Potter which will be able to satisfy the fans who are disappointed with seeing so little of the books in the movies.
