House being foreclosed on? Don't leave you pets!

Many people are loosing their homes in foreclosures because of poor planning and hard times. Many of these people are just leaving their pets locked up in the foreclosed home, only for the banks to find the animals starving, eating dry wall, or dead. Other people are just letting them roam free (which is the better of the two options IMO).
Please when buying animals remember that they deserve the same love and respect as a child would. Pets can be expensive. If you think you will ever get to the point where you can't afford a pet, then do not buy one.
If your home is being foreclosed on and no one will take your animals, please bring them to a no kill shelter where they will be adequately cared for instead of leaving them to die in a locked home.

I completely agree with you if you can't afford to feed your animals and take care of them anymore try and find them good homes or either take them to a non kill animal shelter so they will find them good homes....its pretty bad when you leave your pet in your house with no food no water no way to get out and run or use the bathroom...that would be like putting you in prision and not feeding you or letting you our or anything out its cruel and unusual punishment...it should not be done...just take the time to find them good homes!

It is our experience that most people will rent to people with pets, but they don't like you to have too many. For example, in our complex you can have 2 cats or 2 dogs (there is a weight and breed limit), but an unlimited number of birds, fish tanks, etc. Many people around here who rent homes will usually allow outside animals only or limit the type of indoor pets. Honestly, I can't really blame people who only want a limited or even no pets in their rentals because not everyone cares for their pets correctly. I have seen people pay the extra fees and them allow their animals to tear apart the home to the point that it would take 3 times the amount of the deposit to start to cover the damage. I know not everyone is that way - we are not, but it is people like that who ruin keeping pets for everyone else.

I heard about this also. It is bad enough for someone to lose their home but i just could not leave my pet also. My dog is part of the family and if we lost our home, he would definitely come with us.

When my hubby left us, he promised he would continue paying the mortgage on the house. Well, several months went by and I got the shock of my life in the mail. A letter from the bank saying they are foreclosing on the house cause the mortgage is 3 mos. behind. I was preparing to live in my small car with my daughter AND my dog/cats in the winter since I couldn't afford to rent even a small studio apartment. The mortgage was cheaper than the cheapest rent in our area. Well, we ended up reconciling and hubby paid up the mortgage just as they were bout to send the foreclosure papers to their lawyer. So, I ended up not needing to live in my car but I was preparing to with my fur babies. I could never leave my 4-legged kids behind or drop them off at a shelter. I can't see how anyone can unless they don't love their animals.

That is terrible, I can't understand how anybody could just abandon their pets like that. My dogs are my babies, fortunately, if something like that happened to us, we have someone who would take our dogs temporarily till we got back on our feet. I could never abandon them, they are part of my family.
