It's obvious we're in the era of the European Cup or the world Cup, I think it's a special thing when we use the flag in that way, although it shouldn't be the only occasion we stick out the flag though I'm not proposing the over-use of it like certain countries.

Thank you, yes, I'd like us to claim back the flag from football as it seems to be related to hooliganism.

Me too. I also think of football first. I think it's because that tends to be the main time the flag is used. But I have a St. George flag badge which represents the fact that I am English, as opposed to British that is.

Unfortunately, I only associate it with football. I know it's our countrys flag but it's a coloured piece of material like any other flag and not much use for anything.

Think of the dishcloths, cleaning wipes and polishing rags you can get out of it!

Im filled with patriotism, and I also think of the moarchy. Odd no?
The scotts want to be scotts, the welsh want to be welsh but on anyforms if you are from england, you are british. Go figure. At least they cant stop us from flying the cross of st george.
Interestingly enough he is also the patrient saint of germany.

Thank you, that's my sentiments entirely! Ah yes, the patron Saint of Germany too, he's also the patron saint of a few other things, but I can't remember them.

He's also the patron saint of herpes, apparently. And I think both St. George and his flag were French.

A little historical update for you. Apparently St. George was actually Turkish but I think the flag was originally a French design.

When I see the Sassenachs' flag ah canna help but think o' the misery and oppression it's connected with. Ah hae similar feelings towards the stars and stripes. The union jack is another distasteful symbol of grief.

'Vanthe matharam'. -A popular slogan used widely by the freedom fighters of India agaisnt British invasion. This is what comes to my mind when I see that flag.

I'm afraid my first thoughts are 'not another football match, please!'. If I see it flying above a church, however, it is either St George's Day (April 23) or the church is dedicated to St George and it is flying to celebrate something. It generally makes me wonder what it's flying for!
