I answered a survey question-Do you like it when people make a big deal out of your birthday? I answered yes. Well that was a lie, no one has ever made a big deal out of my birthday!! I have never had a party!! I feel sad about it too. I will be 50 yrs old this time around. I'm hoping for a big party or something. How do ya'll feel-honestly?

for me birthdays are far more important than all the occassions available -- except of course christmas. birthdays should be celebrated. it's always good to know that your existence is being celebrated by the people you love, if not for that day -- they wouldn't come to know you. honestly, for me -- i find it more touching if people remembers my birthday even if they forget the rest of the special events in my life. yes, a birthday surprise would be nice. i often fantasize about it. me arriving hope with a pleasant surprise from my loved ones.

I'm sorry you've never had a party. No party as a child either? I really don't like it when people make a big deal out of my birthday. Our kids threw me a surprise birthday party a few years ago and I was so embarrassed. They also hired an Elvis impersonator to sing to me. There were about 50 friends at this party. I appreciated the fact our kids took the time and energy to plan the party but did't like all the attention focused directly on me. Was a fun time. Most years we meet our kids for dinner for birthdays. The birthday person can choose wherever they like to go and bring their spouses along also. It's always fun. I'd prefer to keep a low profile and just eat dinner together in place of a party.

I have never had a big deal or a big party for my birthday I didn't even have a sweet sixteen party. I will turn 32 in a few weeks and I really don't care if everyone just forgets my birthday this year and dosent' do anything for it.

When I was younger I used to have parties and stuff. Now, they still want to continue giving me parties but I deeply resent it. We're actually opposites. A few years back they made something big for my party, when they have surprised me I acted it was okay but I later told my parents that it was too much for a birthday. Honestly, I do not see why people make big deals on birthdays. No offense meant to you but I know birthday is something that you have to celebrate but maybe not throw a big party and invite the whole village in it. I only like simple ones. When I have my family and really close peers with me.

of course we would like it if someone made a big deal of our birthday. we would feel a bit embarassed but deep inside we would feel happy. i would definitely feel awkward but still like it since i'm not really the sociable and outgoing type. don't lose heart. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I can relate..I've never had a birthday party either, not even as a child..My mother always found a reason to ground me or deny me parties (though my brother and sister had them)....so no I dont make a big deal out of it..In fact to me its always just been "another day" ya know...

Well, it depends really. If my friends make a big deal about it, I'm gonna like it 'cuz I don't see them that often. So it will sort of be a reunion. Well don't lose hope. Fifty is a milestone. So I'm pretty sure someone in your family or one of your friends will be up to something. :-) Advance happy birthday by the way.

I am about 23 years old and I don't remember such a big party for my birthday. It might be fun with my loved ones and friends maybe, and I would like it but I can live without it too :)
