Mylotter or MyLottian. Who are We?

United States

I have read several post referring to MyLot members. Of those post these 2 seem to be the most promenant. I like the fact that we do not consider ourselves to be "Mylot Members". that is so important. Intead we refer to ourselves like a true people group. Mylotters - Seem to be derived from a group of people who "DO" mylot. Similar to the terms "Skier" "Driver" "Writer". All these terms describe what a person does as opposed to what they are. MyLottian - Tend to describe a community of people or a people group with the same purpose. For this reason I will consider myself a MyLottian from now on. What are you thoughts?

I like the term "myLotter" the best. I never really thought about something like this. Good discussion!

Thanks for the response. It is always fun to see what different people call themselves. As you can see I started this discussion months ago and now all of the sudden I get more responses. It seems nowdays everyone seems to have fallen to the Mylotter.

I've never thought about myLot in the way you described, but it's true! We do consider ourselves a group rather than "myLot members," which would imply the "every man for himself" outlook. I really like that you brought up this subject because I'd much rather think of myself as a myLotter as well because without the other great myLotters, I'd have no discussions to respond to and would have no responses to my discussions. It's the people here that make myLot what it has become over the past several months and years. Without people who come here on a daily basis to help and enourage others, myLot would be nothing but an Internet-based moneymaker. I see it as much more than that. It's my "escape" as I've mentioned before. It's something I look forward to when I'm not busy at work. It's yet another portion of my life, and I'm so glad I came to myLot in the first place!

I agree and do the same. "Member of myLot" sounds so...stuck up or official. (LOL) Member implies that you had to pay or do something else to be a part of it. The terms myLotter and myLottian are so friendly and inviting, in my opinion. I'm glad you highlighted the differences between the two because I believe there's a HUGE difference. The words themselves even hold either a good or bad connotation. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be called a myLotter! I'll gladly accept that title for the rest of my life. (LOL)

Hi, Even though I haveint started any discussion on this matter , I have thinking on this . Not the mylotians but the " Mylotter". even you can see I have addressed the people here in few my disucssions as " Co lotters" like, collegues, co workers etc. Isn't that also is a good term to use.

I could see that as a feasible term. Like if you were commenting on someone elses response to help build on it you could be considered a "Colotter" :)

I really feel that the term would be myLotter. Does that mean that we speak myLotian though? Or do we speak myLotish? Or myLotanese? That would be interesting to ponder! LOL I think I am just punchy right about now. It is time to go to bed.

I think you made a point...But somehow -tian is like martian....so its quite alienated as well... Which is why most people would being thinking of putting -ter at the back of the word for simplicity... I would consider myself a mylotter since I DO mylot.....posting replies and discussions are a sort of DOING anyway...

Yes, I guess if you have a sci fi mind you may think of martian first. My thought was more grounded to like Arabian, Canadian. I suppose one could call us Mylotans. Much like Mexicans, Americans, Germans, Cubans. :)

lol.Just my thought too. Whenever I read the word mylottian, I always mistook it for martian. It really does sound alike. Maybe because of the -tian at the end, and the m at the beginning to the word.

I say what ever. I feel you can call your self anything you want. This is a place to talk out some problems, a place to get excited over happy news and just to talk. Good luck and I hope everyone realizes that this is kinda like a family.

Although I have never thought of it before I came across this discussion, I think I like the term "MyLotter" better. This is an active community, one that benefits the more active ones the most, not just in monetary value, but from the information and experiences from people all over the world. Using the term that implies action seems to fit the best here, because if you aren't active here, then you never reap the benefits of this great community.

You misunderstand me slightly, because that's what I'm doing here lol. When it comes to the internet, I don't "do" anything that I don't want to. Even if it does earn money, there has to be some reason to continue doing it, outside of that. Its the ironic thing that the ones who are here only for the money don't realize. Its the friendships you make and the meaningful, informative conversation that actually makes you a better earner here. Not just posting to be posting. If you are here for the experience and friendship, money will inevitably come.

So as I was saying before I rudely cut myself off lol. I like the action word of MyLotter because I am "doing" something that is a work towards a greater cause, not just "doing" my job.

See I have gotten away from "Doing" post and comments. I am more into the building of friendships and seeing how other people respond. Otherwise I would begin to think this as a job. Of "having" to do this.

I prefer "mylotter". first it sounds better.:) and then i think mylot is kind of like a second career to many people here, mylotters make great efforts here: starting discussions, posting responses and at the same time earn some money.
