If you had to choose...

If you could only perform one action here on myLot (either post discussions or respond to discussions), which would you rather do? (You could do as much of that one action as you wanted.) Fortunately, we have the option of doing both, but I'm just curious as to which action most myLot users prefer.

This is really tough for me. But if at all I have to choose over knife (LOL..) I would rather respond. I have always loved doing that. Having said this, I would have all new ideas of starting a discussion then....That's my nature.

I'm glad you enjoy responding to discussions. There's such a variety of discussions here on myLot, but there's always something else to write about! The possibilities are endless, which is so wonderful. I enjoy starting discussions, but most often I respond to them. I'd choose the same as you and for the same reasons. Thanks, Mimpi!

You're too sweet! Thanks so much for all of your compliments. I'm so glad we both found myLot and have the privilege of becoming such good friends. I really enjoy getting to know others here on myLot, and the discussions definitely help me do just that. I'm so glad you have other places where you can "air your thoughts," as you so beautifully put it. When I read that portion of your comment, it reminded me of what a relief it is being here in a community of friends where we can all enjoy getting to know one another, and it's a place where we can voice our opinion and get things off our chest, so to speak. I'm so thankful for your friendship and for your wonderful responses to all of my discussions. For that reason, I can tell your response to this discussion is true. Thanks so much for sharing and for your continued friendship! You're a jewel.

Luckily enough mylot does give us the opportunity to both respond to discussions and start our own discussions, but if I had to choose between the two,I would most definitely choose respond to discussions, because while most of the time I have trouble coming up with ideas for discussions,I can almost always find new discussions to respond to,and responding to other peoples discussions are a lot easier to.

My answer to this discussion would be same as yours. While I still enjoy starting discussions, the majority of my activity and thus earnings has been responding to the most creative discussions that people have come up with. I wouldn't give this place up for the world! Thanks for your honest response.

For me the choice would be easy, I far enjoy responding to discussions and giving my detailed response than to create discussions, not just because of the money factor it's because I feel sad that when I get pages and pages of response from people who took the time and effort to respond that I can't personally thank them all! I love responding to my friends discussions and this is where I get most enjoyment from.

Hi, Reese! I love your response. I know what you mean by wanting to personally talk to everyone who responded to your discussion. I would love to do the same, especially when theirs and my opinions match. If not, it's still great to hear from people all over the planet. It's an amazing place here. I'll keep saying that till the day I die because I love it here. You're one of the reasons why. I really appreciate your response, and I'm sure I'll keep seeing you around as I have many other discussions of mine to comment on! Keep up the good work!! :)

I agree with you. I would choose the same as you have. I just figure that there are so many more creative people here on myLot, so I'd have plenty of discussions to respond to. I have many more responses than posted discussion, that's for sure. Thanks, SV!

I would definitely choose to respond to discussions. I have been here for 6 months now and I think I have only started 5 or 6 of my own discussions.
I just prefer to respond, especially because a lot of times I only have a few minutes on mylot at a time. It is easier for me to make a comment on somebody else's discussion rather than try and type up a whole thought out one of my own.

Hi, Money. I agree with you. I'd much rather just have to think of a response rather than a whole new discussion. I've started some discussions, but much less than I've responded to. What I do is when I think of a good discussion to start and I'm not on myLot at the time or I'm at work, I will write down some ideas and then start the discussion later. I think the majority of those who've responded to this discussion prefer responding to discussions rather than creating them. Thanks for your answer!

I usually try to post a topic everyday, minimum of 2 maximum of five, but today, I was not able to post a new topic coz I got busy today.
But most of the time I do post and I have many responses compared to starting a new discussion. It is easy to response than to start a new topic to be posted.

Hi, Honey, I agree. I'd much rather respond to a discussion than start one. Your statistics are correct, and I'm sure of it. I love how you have a goal of starting so many discussions per day. That really keeps your earnings consistent in increase, I'm sure. Thanks for the tip! Sometimes I can think up good discussions, but the majority of my points were gained through responses. Thank you for your input and sharing your goal. I may adapt the ideaa also! :)

I would probably stick to answering discussions and staying involved without starting new discussions. You know, there are some days when I am just all into it, where I have a million questions or subjects that I want to talk about... for those days, I guess I would have to be happy with sticking to other people's topics. I know that people will always have something for me to respond to, at least. If I am drawing a blank, I don't want to be the type of person starting discussions about how I am bored or those kinds of discussions.

Hi, Jay. Thanks for the chuckle about the "I'm bored" discussions. I can definitely relate to them, but have never posted one of my own for obvious reasons. I don't know what to tell people who are bored on myLot! This is an amazing site. There are always plenty of things to do. I'm like you, though. I only have certain days when I'm shooting out the discussion posts. Most other "normal" days, I'm responding to discussions left and right. I enjoy reading the responses to my discussions, though! Thank you for yours!!

If I only had one choice, I would choose responding to discussions over starting my own. I have always preferred to respond to others discussions anyway. But I'm glad it isn't set up this way as I like to start discussions too (just not as often as replying to others). :) I reply to maybe 10+ discussions a day, but only start maybe 2 a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. So, replying to discussions would be a better choice for me.

I think I would have to choose responding to discussions.. Only because I don't think that I am very good at coming up with a good topic/discussion to start that would not have already been started! I have been trying to think of a topic I could start discussing but my mind goes blank..lol I think it is alot easier for me to respond to topics..

I agree with you. I only have certain days that I have a lot of discussions on my mind to post. I more look forward to responding to discussions and waiting for the user who posted it to comment on my response. I look forward to that although I love reading responses to discussions I post and commenting on them as well. I'm glad we don't have to choose, but obviously this discussion was posted out of my own curiousity what everyone would prefer. Thanks for sharing!

I think that I would rather answer peoples questions because I like doing that more than asking my own questions because I really do like helping the people on mylot.....Of course this is the place that I come to ask all of my questions so that would be tough too....I really do prefer to answer other peoples questions though and good thing that there are more people like me because if not no one would ever get their questions answered here. So as hard as it would be to choose I would have to say answering the question!

Your response made me laugh! You clearly answered my question by saying you prefer responding to discussions over posting them, but that's only if you HAD to choose, then you went on to say why you wouldn't want to just respond to discussions. It was just funny to me! I'm the same way as you, though. There are so many questions I'd love to have answered. MyLot has definitely helped quench my thirst for knowledge (even though it could never be completely satisfied - lol). There are also circumstances that come into my life where I don't know how to take it or how to handle it. I love reading responses to those types of discussions I've posted. Thank you for your response! It was a pleasure to read.

I respond to discussion way more than I start. Probably because most things I think of have already been posted about, so I feel it pretty redundant to post another discussion on the same topic. Tink

Hi, Tink! I like your response. I actually heard somewhere on a discussion that by myLot rules, we're supposed to search for a discussion before we post it to make sure there are no duplicates out there. I know a lot of people don't bother reading the rules (such as me! lol) so it's hard to know what's ok and what's not. I know what you mean, though. I've seen so many discussions out there entitled "What is your favorite kind of ice cream?" I try to add a little more variety and more explanation to the discussions I post just in case the myLot administration thinks mine is a duplicate and decides to delete it. I can understand why they have that rule, but like I said, I'm not sure how true it is. My apologies, Tink. I didn't mean to lecture you about myLot rules! I appreciate your response and completely agree with your perspective on this discussion. Thank you for your input!
