With a little practice you can get faster at "writing" on the computer. Then it can go faster then you can write. It then makes it a very valuable tool and one that can make it easier for writing. After all you can get the words out faster, you don't have to enter them in later, and they are ready to be edited and sent off in whatever way you want so that you can sell your work.

yeah i'm the opposite, since i can type so much faster than i can write by hand if i'm doing something like taking notes or trying to get ideas down before i forget then, then i'd much rather use the computer. however, if i'm writing for more creative purposes then there is still something rather soothing and more natural when it comes to the actual tactile act of writing with pen and paper. plus i really like to be able to look through old journals and see what the ideas *looked like* as i first wrote them down.

I actually enjoy both. There are times that only a pen and a nice notebook will do for my creativity. Other times I use the computer. I eventually put many things I write on paper on my computer to use later as inspiration for blogs.

Computers are faster to write with and you don't need to sharpen your keyboard and the backspace key doesn't wear down for a lot longer than an eraser. Also, everything uses computers these days, including this thread: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1394399.aspx
Which got ignored when it bloody well shouldn't have.

I prefer both although I started writing on paper, I encode it into the computer with the hopes that I could someday publish it as a book. Typing became a form of therapy for me - that should might as well explain why I became part of the blogosphere. But given the convenience, both are convenient and flexible to use yet differ in some ways. For example, if you're on road traveling and got nothing to do on a lonely night, you could write a story about the full moon you see in your province, jot it down on your notebook; or either type it in your MS Word or Wordpad and save it or better yet publish it to your online blog (that is if you're on Wi-Fi, lol).
But I find writing on computer is much rewarding because you get to correct your mistakes and you could save it or reproduce it into a hard copy or burn it for sharing whereas when writing with paper you get scratchy scribbles and deep impressed handwriting.

I usually write my first draft on paper and then type it onto wordpad for the 2nd draft and save on the computer. That way I have a backup copy in case something should happen to my computer.

I like writing on computer. Since I'm skilled with ten-fingered typing, I enjoy writing on my computer rather than on paper. That way I can synchronize my speed of typing with the ideas flashing in my mind. However, when I'm on a trip or in a situation that I do not have my computer by my side, I do it on paper. That's no problem.
Have a good time, Shmilvyjing!

I like to write my ideas on paper and indeed I used to love writing on paper. But now as I have been typing on the computer too much and my hand-writing tends to deteriorate, I don't write on papers that much unless some thing pop up in my head and I need to write that down before I forget. I almost write everything on computers now!

I like using the computer. I can type faster than I can write and I can save my work and not have to worry about keeping up with the papers. and I post a lot of the thing I write to a blog anyway, so I would have to type it one way or the other. It saves trees and I can keep back-up copies on my pc and laptop in case one goes down...I have a flash drive as well

It depends, I often use my laptop and computer for typing up any work etc because I can do it much quicker and neater. I also think typing helps me think more and any ideas I have come more quickly because I can keep up with what I'm typing whilst thinking of more things to add, I like email aswell. :]

Well, I do both depending on what it is I need to do. When it comes to Writing letters though and mailing off something, I would rather type it on a Computer, and send it off in an Email.
But I Love to Write, and am always jotting down ideas or taking notes on paper all of the time. It never hurts to keep informed of all of the things continuing to go on around us. As for typing, I may not be the best when it comes to making a lot of errors, but I enjoy being online and having access to typing on so many sites and via Email.

I refer to use my computer. I can not write as well as I can type, and my handwriting is lousy. It's much easier to read what I do, if I type it using the ocmputer, as opposed to writing it on paper with a pen.
