Webcam Image black

my girlfriend bought a microsoft lifecam 3000 and we have tried everything to get it working firewalls have been checked settings checked software downloaded from microsoft we even tried installing it backwards by plugging the cam then instaling the software and nothing will work please help!!! thank you

What OS are you using? If the lifecam 3000 is bought recently, it shouldn't spoil so fast... I think its either the webcam is not detected by the OS or something is deterring the installation, like Norton Antivirus software...

no it fully installed we got no errors at all the web cam was detected because it loaded up in the messenger the wscreen is just totally black on it on both the recieving and transferring side

When you run the webcam configuration setup, can you adjust the brightness and contrast and see if that helps? I think the webcam may also have a focus ring that needs to be adjusted.... Check the user's manual and see if that help

I really don't know what the problem is but I can tell you a few things that you might be able to try....have you ever thought about checking your computers settings and make sure that the cam will work on your computer....if that all works out check the cam out and make sure it works and is not defective(if so take it back to the store that you got it from and tell them that it is defective)if you don't want to try that you could try uninstalling it and then try to re install it again that could also be the problem!

we are begining o think its just plain broke lol and we have uninstalled and reinstalled so many times the pc has needed pain killers not just us... what a bleeding headache thanx for the response
