I heard another story tonight about a police office booking someone for dui in a US state and the guy never even had one drink. The guys face was posted and printed for the town to see. Turns out the cop was only trying to meet quota or something. Now grant it this it isn't as bad as the cop go back to house later that evening to check up on victim and rapes her; but that dui story got me thinking about all these other cases I have heard about. Why do we have crooked cops? Do you think they start out with good intentions to be good guys and help society or do you think they join the police force for he power? I just don't get it; maybe I am nieve?

Well cops are people just like everyone else and as we all know there's always crooked people no matter where you go. That being said a cop is a position of power and I have a feeling this influences the type of people who seek out the job. Those who seek power are in most cases the worst person to wield it. If you look at any position of power you will see that crooked people gravitate in that direction.

I can't imagine anyone making a better point then this one so I had to give you best response. I was thinking as I read your post how obvious and true your statement is. I mean I sure hope it isn't true for all people but I have to say I know personally two of those volunteer cops. Forgive me as I forget the right term for them. The interesting thing is that I know one of them very well and I see so clearly how this is a person who loves power and I sure wouldn't want to run into him on the job. A few years later I met this other guy that my husband worked with and I said to my husband wow that guy reminds me of so and so. He said ya and you know whats funny? This guy is a exhillary (thats it) cop too. Wow their personalities seem so much the same I said in which hubby said I know amazing isn't it.

i knew of a cop who wanted to quit because he wanted to turn bad. for him it was the injustis of it all. he would take someone in for whatever reason & within hours would see that person out & doing the same thing. when court rolled round that person would get off with nothing much then a slap, the cop could have done that at the time & saved heap of man hours & money. but then again if justice was done & scum bag sent away he would only learn how to do it better & and be filled with alot more hate towards society when they come out.
my point is a person can have good intenions in begining but life experience teach's him another.
then there's people who are just looking for power,& then it comes to greed.

Jayman I can imagine the frustration it would be for a policeman with integrity. I am sure alot of the guys who are decent and honest get tempted to tell the odd lie or do a something dishonest. What gets me is the out and out evil that some of them do. Rape and beating people thinking they are not going to get caught; this discuss me.

I think power is a big part of it. Some of these cops are exposed to all kinds of temptations and some are weaker than others. I was also told, by a valid source, police have a monthly quota. We don't have any police officers in the family nor do we have friends in this field. It's a very difficult job and I do respect their position.

Hi CoffeeAnyone, Cops are people just like the rest of us. None of us are all good and none are all bad. They have their good and bad days too, and things happen in their lives that cause them to change, just as it does to others. In a perfect world we wouldn't need cops. Blessings.

your not nieve at all cops are becoming increasingly corrupt atleast they are from where im from. Ive heard so many sotries of cops uing excessiive force, wrongful arrests, with no one to answer to. Thsi is completly unfair becasue when the police get into to trouble they rarely get any punichment. The internal affirs is a joke and they take so much time the public usually forgets. What really makes me angry is that more often than not when police are being investigated they get paid leave. That means you get paid and u dont go to work, yet odds are u have a job to come back to. In the real world this is called a vacation and it isnt usually brought on by wrong doing.

There will always be crooked cops and other crooked people in the world because that is just how some people are and np matter what you do you can't always make everyone that works in a place honest.

i agree with you.. i haven't encouter any bad policemen yet.. but i do encouter some bad law enforcers.. which forced me to bribe them.. i have no choice.. if i don't .. they wouldn't pass my driving license.. they're just that demanding.. and it's not cheap to bribe them.. no matter what we do.. even the good ones can be bad people.. they just say that they're good.. but.. who knows? i don't trust them.. now some bad citizens are acting as policemen and start to commit crimes.. how am i going to differentiate between the good and the bads? no idea.. but i believe there are some that join the police force as an undercover for the bad peoples. thanks =)
