Homeschool questions needed.

In my last post, I was debating the issue of homeschool vs. public school. Now I need a little more help. I've decided to homeschool my daughter for the school year coming up as a trial run. We live with my father and his wife. Not only are they not going to agree, they will make our lives hell. When I present them with all of the information I know we're going to have a long fight/debate on what is right for MY children. Here's what I need... My father's wife is an assistant principal and an english teacher at a public school, and she's very quick on her toes (I'm not). I need a list of questions. The more questions I answer before the meeting, they better off I'll be. I'm not a fighter, and I'd much rather send email back and forth but that's not going to happen. So if you're a homeschooler, what are some rediculous things you've been asked? If you're for or against homeschooling, what things would you ask someone about it? Remember that they're NOT going to go easy, and are going to try to get me to break. I want to have a list of answers before this happens. Thanks for any help!

Oh I have been there..when I pulled my kids i got it from my mum (who is a teacher) and my sister (also a teacher and now a V.P)...they told me I was making a mistake and would fail miserably LOL Believe me they were WRONG....I homeschooled my kids for 2 yrs back in Canada, moved to NY, they wanted to try school over here and have done very well...In fact my daughter has maintained a 96-97% average throughout.... Some of the questions and comments my mother and sister tried to trip me up with was things like - how do you know you'll be teaching them the right curriculum? - What about socialization? - you do know that they won't be able to get into college right? - you didn't even finish school yourself what makes you think you're qualified to teach them? - dont you care they become social outcasts? and the comments just went on and on...my answers were - how do you know you'll be teaching them the right curriculum? = because I've access to it on the School Board website - What about socialization? = what about it? School ISNT for socializing..its for learning...the kids socialize AFTER school hours and on the weekends - you do know that they won't be able to get into college right? = actually YES THEY WILL..try doing YOUR research - you didn't even finish school yourself what makes you think you're qualified to teach them? = becuase I'm their mother, I want whats best for them and I'm not an idiot thanks very much..what makes YOU think anyone ELSE is better qualified than me?? - dont you care they become social outcasts? = social outcasts?? where do you get this crap from?? Bottomline is this....they are YOUR CHILDREN and NOBODY knows better than YOU whats best for your kids...As long as you are determined to do right by them, realize you need patience and are willing to go the extra mile then NOBODY needs to pipe up about a damn thing..... Good luck to you and your kids.....

Thats a tough one. I think homeschooling is better as long as you make sure you get a social circle going for your kids. Otherwise they miss out on socialization. Sorry I can't help you much. I was just going to say... do you pay rent? cause if you do they don't really have a say.
