I recently upgraded to a Olympus SP-550U with 7.1 MP and a fantastic 18X optical zoom. The pictures it takes are outstanding, and with the included software you can even take panoramic pictures, up to ten individual shots either horizontally or vertically, which the software stitches together.
The average picture size is about 3MB (as jpg).
It has a very large display, but you can also compose the picture using the view finder, which shows the picture through the lense. Almost, but not quite like a SLR. They are available for about $250. now, but I paid $379. for it (MSRP $499.00)

I have a Fuji. It works great, the pictures are really clear. I have had it for about 3 or 4 years now and have had no trouble. It doesn't seem to go through batteries nearly as much as my friends cameras. The pictures look great even plugged in to a big screen television.

I own a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8

(I got it last summer, so the release date there is silly)
It's for practice really, getting used to taking good photos. I love street photography and nature photography but I haven't really gone out this Winter so I've not got much use out of it, sadly. One of my New Years Resolutions is to use it more though!
