Do You Collect Barbie Dolls? Did You Have Barbie Dolls Before?

I didn't. Barbies were really expensive in our country when I was a kid and we couldn't afford one. But when I traveled, I went to Wal-Mart and was really surprised by how many Barbie collections they have. My favorite is the Top Model line *smiles*. Besides, I know one older lady who collects different Barbie dolls (went to her house and got amazed!). So, I am wondering if you collect Barbie?

I am sorry to hear that! It takes a lot of time and effort to collect something and I never really did collect anything because I know I would be bored *laughs*.

i didn't too. i wasn't really exposed with barbies and all, and even if i saw one or two beautiful barbie dolls, i can't ask my mom to buy it for me because its too expensive just like there in your country. but i played with cheap dolls, i just didn't collect them. ^__^ i used to play paper dolls though. i love making my own paper dolls and my cousins would ask me to make a doll for them. i also make their dresses. of course its on paper too. i had a lot of paper dolls then. most of them my creation. i lost them eventually. either i gave them away or maybe i threw them all away when i got tired of them. ^__^

I LOVE paper dolls! They were really cheap and fun! These days I wanted to look for them somehow, but I don't think any stores selling paper dolls now!

As a girl, I had Barbie Dolls when I was a child. But I didn't have a hobby to collect them, fortunately:) In fact any kinds of dolls would be fine for me. I didn't have to buy Barbie Dolls. There are many choices. Now I grow up and I am not interested in such kind of toys. Besides, I have a son and it is no need for me to buy it as he doesn't like it at all.

I've never bought a Barbie doll and never had one as a child. I hated dolls. As an adult I've received a couple as gifts and kept them until I found someone, uh, younger, to give them to. I like stuffed animals, though. Does Barbie have a cat or dog? I like Betty Boop's dogs!

Same as me! I would never know what to do with a doll! I had one when I was older and one day I cut all her hair off and indeed I didn't really play as much with her, I made some clothes for her though! I don't think she has a pet but I am not really sure *laughs*.

Hello wondericequeen, I didn't too. I didn't really play with dolls when I was a kid. When I started schooling, I prefer to read comic books and daily newspaper. I don't know why but I don't really have a soft spot for girly toys *laughs*

There are only a couple series that I collect...ok...maybe a few. There are the Native American dolls that they didn't finish the series of and they were exclusives to ToysRUs. Spirit of Water, Spirit of Fire, Spirit of Wind are the 3 of the series they did put out. There there are the Halloween Barbie's that they release in Target stores. That are very very cute Barbie's dressed in witch or gypsy costumes. :) And then I love the different world Barbie's. I have the Egyptian, Ireland, and I few other countries that I love. :)

I never had a barbie doll although i have always wanted one... when i was little they were far to expensive... and when my father went to work abroad (Saudi Arabia)...i would always ask him to buy me a barbie doll... but instead i got one of those big dolls that danced... i was quite upset... but it is still a doll and i played with it... After a few years... i found out that Barbie dolls were not allowed in Saudi Arabia... so now i understand...

I never had any Barbie dolls growing up. I was a tom boy. I was never big into dolls. Probably because all of my cousins around my age that I hung out with were boys. I had a few friends that were girls that had them. I played with them when I was hanging out with them sometimes.

Honestly, I envied those friends of mine who have collections of barbie dolls. Becuase during our time, my parents could not afford to buy me. They will rather buy food than toys for us. But I already overcame those stage. Now, I no longer want baribie dolls for myself- but for daugther.

I did. I used to love Barbies and at one point used to have a whole drawer full of them. It was always a special thing to get a new Barbie (or Sindy). My brother had Action Men and we used to play with them together. :)

Yes, I used to play with Barbies when I was a kid. In fact, they are still with me now. I have the Barbie dollhouse and accessories and I still enjoy looking at the dolls. How I love to be like Barbie (lol)

Yes, I do collect Barbies and I love them. I still have most of the ones that I had as a child and I am enjoying them a great deal. My daughter loves them too. I just recently bought a Cher doll that is the size of a Barbie and I love it! I hope to buy more soon. My favorite is my #24 Jeff Gordon Barbie!!

I never collected Barbies but I LOVED playing with them as a kid. I had tons of clothes for them and a Barbie Jeep and Vacation van to put them in. I always wanted the Barbie jumbo jet toy and I asked for it for Christmas a lot, but I never got it. xD

Hi. I just answered a discussion question regarding owning Barbie dolls. I told her how I was sick that due to traveling a lot being a Army brat: I had to get rid of them. We had no idea of how much they would be worth today. I also told her that I was thinking of starting my collection up again. That I had saw some big ones in a few stores. I did'nt know that they had collections at Wal-Mart. Thank for the tip. See how you can learn things and get tips with these chat rooms. I'm going to check out your Top Model line and see if it's up to par. (smile)

I collected them when I was younger and I still have tem in the box and they have never been taken out. I don't have but 9 of them because the cheapest one was $40 and some of them were more than that. They were supposedly suppose to be worth a lot of money one day but I don't know of anyone who would buy them. I have four of the Happy Holidays Barbies and I remeber in 1996 in Tupelo there was a store with a 1986 Happy Holidays Barbie for $1500. I just decided that I would leave them in the box so that they will be in mint condition for my children and if they want to open them then I guess they can. I thought when I was younger that I would sell them when I got older but that hasn't happened so if I keep them I will hope that they will mean something to my children. My 5 year old does not understand why I will not let her open them. It's just something I don't want to do. I do not buy them now but might buy more someday who knows? I would like to start buying them for my children and keep them put up until they get up older and then they will have them. But who knows if they will even want them.

I think that it was Cindy dolls that my two girls used to collect, and they had a massive collection of the dolls and their outfits and accessories, they used to always want them as birthday and christmas presents. Then one time we went on holiday in a caravan and they took them with them to play with...well the worst thing happened..we were packing up and we packed all the things into the car..and binned all of the rubbish..well when we got home..we found we had binned all of the Cindy dolls!!!Oh my were the girls upset, they were crying their eyes out!!
