I installed some application on my phone like a dictionary, Word-like software which enables me to type MS Word Documents, Movie player that utilizes the whole screen and some other stuff that does drain out the battery.
So far, I have already three batteries but I was only forced to buy two since the first one broke. -_-

Actually the batteries of today are MORE more advanced than any battery that was out say five years ago... take the battery out of your phone and then take the battery out of the old phone you had... Manufacturers try to get 2.5 - 3 hours talk time to a battery (yeah they probably ignore bluetooth, games, internet, etc...) so instead of keeping that big bulky battery that was in your old phone your battery is probably just a slab of what your old one was.
Why do batteries go bad so quickly? Heat... you have cylindars inside a battery... inside all batteries... and it will literally burst. If you are having problems not getting 2 hours of talk time from a battery take it out and see if you see any lumps in the battery... it could be defective. There are three good things about todays batteries.
1. most all of them ARE covered under manufacturers 1 year warranty
2. they are much smaller/slimmer/lighter than batteries of the past
3. if you do need to buy another one they are very inexpensive relative to other devices that you may need to replace (laptop batteries).
We give up size for performance.
Tips:
1. Make your screen as dim as you can stand it without not being able to read it, don't automatically make it the brightest setting.
2. Make the shutoff of the screen 1 minute (or less/more depending on your phone).
3. If you don't have bluetooth TURN IT OFF, it takes a lot of battery to run it.

I find it hard since phones are so featured these days that the battery endurance seems to be ignored by the manufacturers. They can play videos, games and all that while still being a cell phone yet, the battery wouldn't last long enough.
I was even thinking of asking if the company that made the phone I use developed a new battery that would last longer than the usual ones they provide with their handsets.

Hi youless! I only have one battery for my cellphone and I guess, I do not need another spare because I really use my phone for texting and calling and it is because i spend most of my time at home so I can just recharge it once the battery is low. Take care and have a nice day. :)

Wow! I only have one battery because my phone doesn't have a lot of different functions and I mostly use it to text my friends about gathering confirmation, I don't really use my phone that much and therefore, I don't even think about buying a new battery *laughs*.
