I really liked being read to as a child and taking an audio book to bed with my headphones is very relaxing and I enjoy passing the time driving to and from work listening to a story also. Something that annoys me though is there's usually one bad tape in the bunch from the public library that skips or something.

I have never tried one. Is it possible to download any book from the internet?
How do they do? Do someone read the book for us or something like that?

i dont even have time to watch a program, let alone listen to a whole story,, i think id forget about it half way through.. but, i do know people (salesman who travel), that get them constantly and have nothing but good to say about them. i guess if you have a long car trip or something. ,, my attention span cant even keep the same radio station on for more than a couple of songs tho,, so not a good idea for me!

I enjoy listening to lectures, in fact. So I think if there are books that i can download that would be nice. I travel a lot and it would be great if I can listen and travel. Traveling and reading is not that good for the eyes. Where can we download audio books? Any idea?

Our local community library has a pretty good selection. I see they are coming out now on CD's instead of cassettes. They also have an online website that you can download to. I notice my iPod could not do it, so I had to buy a Creative Zen --check with your library to see what will support their software.

I've never really had the chance to listen to an audio book before except as a child. Then I found them slightly boring because I wasn't holding onto the book doing the reading myself. However, I agree they are a great asset, especially for busy people that don't have the time to read but would really like to find out what happens in the newest bestseller. I'm just not quite sure that audio books would be the best thing for me, other than to keep me occupied on short commutes back and forth between campuses.

I am not much into listening to audio books because I get used to reading with my eyes. I have a photographic memory and I am much better when I see or read something. I think my hearing memory is not good at all and I would forget things if I am being read to *smiles*.
